The Market Access Director, Europe, reporting to the Vice President, Head of Market Access Europe, will help drive the pan-European pricing and market access strategy for SpringWorks’ assets, with a focus on the identification of payer value and access optimisation for a target therapeutic area
As a key member of the European Market Access team, this individual will be responsible for the development of payer product value stories, communicating the value to medical and commercial functions, and in wider forums across the company. They will also be responsible for in-market pricing, as well as the implementation of innovative pricing solution and risk-sharing model. This individual will develop internal relationships within SpringWorks, as well as externally with HTAs and other key stakeholders.
Working with the Vice President, Head of Market Access Europe, this individual will develop strategy for the current and future portfolio in order to anticipate market access opportunities and mitigate potential payer barriers. They will also actively contribute to cross-functional forums to ensure that ex-US payer viewpoints are considered.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Lead the development and communication of market access payer value story for a target therapeutic area to direct the development of HTA dossiers, health economic models and market access toolkits
- Support local European countries P&R dossier submission and negotiations
- Early assessment of pipeline assets/indications, including landscape mapping, position in treatment algorithm, value driver identification and willingness to pay
- Evaluation of the impact of P&R decisions/changes for a target therapeutic area on price as a result of international reference pricing across European markets
- Launch order sequence and planning for EU/global geographical expansion
- Work with counterparts in other departments at SpringWorks to ensure alignment of strategy and consistent messages
- Assist in partnering closely with the HEOR function to ensure HEOR programmes support the above strategies and engage stakeholders to facilitate pricing, reimbursement, and uptake
- Collaborate on initiatives to optimise price across markets and maximise long term profitability
- Ensure HTA dossiers are submission ready and aligned to the European Market Access strategy, with inclusion of the value story
- Lead primary research projects, including advisory boards, workshops, payer research and other research programmes to identify key value drivers and establish willingness to pay for new assets and LCM (new indications/formulations)
- Execute payer market research activities to support country specific dossier submissions and negotiation strategy in Europe
- Assess the feasibility and market access requirements for launching into additional European markets
- To lead and coordinate market access projects in collaboration with internal and external partners, including the management of project budgets
- Help the team maintain relationships with pan-European key public and private payers, vigilantly monitor the competitive landscape and business models and proactively adapt to emerging trends in the reimbursement and drug pricing landscape in the local European Markets
- Work closely with commercial operations to ensure alignment with commercial strategy and messages for payer audiences
- Act as point of contact for pricing information and pricing research
- Responsible for tracking prices and reimbursement status across European markets and producing regular and ad hoc reports
- Work cross-functionally to support the evaluation of BD opportunities, through landscape assessment, pricing evaluation, due diligence and reporting
- Support additional VP Market Access Europe and European commercial strategy projects as determined by business needs (ELT projects, etc)
- Collaborate across EU and HQ Brand Teams, Medical Affairs, Finance, Market Research, Legal, Government Affairs, country affiliates and other functional teams, to help drive strategies that reflect all relevant current and projected market dynamics
Who You Are:
- 9+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
- Bachelor’s degree in science required
- Orphan drug experience essential
- Deep and demonstrable knowledge in European / International market access and pricing, specifically product launch payer environment
- Track record of working with P&R processes in European markets essential, other additional geographies beneficial
- Substantial, relevant experience in market access across Europe in all payer archetypes (international markets beneficial)
- Experience of value assessment of novel drugs, with generation of core value story and dossier development
- Experience in local, regional and international market access roles and environments (5+ years)
- Proven team-working ability within diverse cross-functional teams
- Resilient profile with the ability to deliver in an ambiguous environment
- Operational excellence
- Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
