Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the Program Facilitator is responsible for the facilitation, creation, and delivery of Indigenous health and wellness program initiatives, with a strong focus on community capacity building, prevention, and cultural healing. The role includes the development and delivery of wellness and cultural programs, event coordination, budget oversight, and program management. The Program Facilitator will work collaboratively with local governments, health authorities, and Indigenous partners to integrate evidence-based health promotion strategies with Indigenous cultural practices, ensuring programs are inclusive, safe, and community-driven.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in health, social sciences, community development, public/health administration, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in program delivery, community health, wellness, or cultural healing initiatives
- Experience facilitating group wellness or health workshops, preferably in Indigenous or community-based settings
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, evaluation, and reporting
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous cultural practices considered a strong asset
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
Requirements
- Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
Job Duties/Responsibilties
- Lead the design, planning, and delivery of health and wellness initiatives, including culturallyrelevant group sessions and workshops
- Facilitate wellness, cultural healing, art therapy, and life skills sessions that may include mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, traditional teachings, and self-care strategies
- Coordinate program logistics including event scheduling, registration, facility bookings, supply management, and contracting of external speakers or practitioners
- Support community health assessments, engagement processes, and the integration of evidence-based strategies into local wellness planning
- Track program attendance, evaluate outcomes, and prepare reports in accordance with Indigenous Services Canada and funding requirements
- Oversee program budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare financial documentation
- Provide mentorship, direction, and oversight to co-facilitators, assistants, and contractors supporting program delivery
- Promote culturally safe practices and ensure all programming reflects Indigenous approaches to health and healing
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards, and procedures, and assigned by the Director of Health and Wellness
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Deep understanding of Indigenous health principles, cultural healing practices, and community wellness approaches
- Strong facilitation and group leadership skills, with ability to create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments
- Knowledge of community health promotion, population health strategies, and chronic disease prevention
- Project management skills including program planning, evaluation, budgeting, and reporting
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with Canva or similar design tools considered an asset
- Knowledge of colonization, intergenerational trauma, and their impact on Indigenous communities, with the ability to apply cultural sensitivity in all interactions
- The median hourly wage for this position is $44.48
- This is a term position with an end date of March 20, 2026
