Position Overview
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the Superintendent is responsible for leading the Warehouse team that is responsible for daily warehouse activities, which includes leading a team of warehouse professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective inventory and material management in a remote mining environment.
The role is well suited for an engaging leader with a proven track record in leading warehousing operations or similar environments where a logical approach and customer focus are key success factors. The ideal candidate has a passion for operational excellence & continuous improvement in the workplace.
The successful candidate will be working one (1) week on one (1) week off rotation at the Ekati mine site.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the warehouse operation including but not limited to shipping, receiving, kitting, deliveries on site, coordination of freighters;
- Directly manage Team Leads and oversee scheduling, training and performance;
- Measure and address the effectiveness of employee performance and warehousing activities;
- Correct in conjunction with the Team Lead and Shift Supervisor to resolve employee productivity and quality problems;
- Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate;

- Strategic staffing, process improvements and managing resources in collaboration with the Head of Supply Chin to ensure efficiency and productivity;
- Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate;
- Report problems to Head of Supply Chain when necessary;
- Ensure all Health and Safety guidelines are enforced and concerns are resolved;
- Manages and improves material handling safety while aggressively eliminating unsafe processes.
Education/Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a warehouse environment, progressive warehouse or logistics experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role;
- Experience in similar environments where a logical, reliable approach and customer focus are key success factors will also be considered;
- Experience in the mining or remote industrial sector preferred;
- Proven leadership and team development skills;
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure deadline-oriented environment;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgement in varied situations;
- Emotional intelligence: Influences others, cooperative and collaborative, listens openly, negotiates and resolves disagreements;
- Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information;
- Experience with materials workflow management, logistics, inventory and warehousing functions;
- Working knowledge of SAP and strong computer literacy, with a willingness to learn new computer skills;
- Knowledge of WHIMIS, which includes familiarity with chemical products, use, disposal and Safety Data Sheets applications;
- Class 5 driver's license is required.
