What You Will Do

In this era of rapidly advancing technologies, air dominance is a critical imperative for success. Next-generation propulsion is the key. Leverage your experience to develop propulsion technologies for the advanced aircraft required to fly, fight and win.

The candidate will be working on compression systems hardware. Tasks will include processing engineering changes to improve the production configuration, delivering development hardware to test engines, facilitating the delivery of hardware to production engines, and support of fielded engines or even new product design.

The structural engineer will work with the other disciplines of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) including Project, Structures, Aero-thermal, and Product Definition. The structural engineer will also need to interface with other Compression Systems Engineering IPTs as well as other departments such as Customer Technical Support, Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering, and Product Safety, Certification and Validation & Development Operations to complete these tasks.

  • Resolution of mechanical engineering problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with peer assistance and supervisor oversight.
  • Learn to execute and understand the reasoning behind PW EKS (standard work) for your engineering discipline.
  • Execute FEM codes for the creation and solving FEM models.
  • Execute PW Core Str codes for lifing, Fracture, Burst, strength, deflection analysis for jet engine static and rotating hardware.
  • Generate development hardware design solutions that meet the objectives of the test engines and facilitate the delivery of the development hardware to the test engines on schedule.
  • Work with Operations to address production issues and evaluate hardware nonconformances to facilitate the timely delivery of production hardware.
  • Work with our Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to respond to customer questions, review deteriorated hardware, and update engine maintenance manual limits.
  • Utilize standard work and CORE tools to continuously improve the structures analysis process.

What You Will Learn

This position is a part of our Engineering Development Program (EDP). EDP participants will complete three to four rotations to build technical breadth and leadership abilities before graduating from the program.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • Internship experience with Pratt & Whitney, RTX, or within the aerospace industry
  • Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas
  • Experience communicating clear and effective messages to a broad audience
  • Experience with MS Office products, Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, ANSYS, and classical methods of analysis.

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of commercial and military fans, low compressors and high compressors. Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
