We are currently looking for a Technical Product Manager to steer CWAN’s API platform vision, delivery, and ongoing evolution. In this role, you will lead efforts that ensure our API power seamless, scalable, and high-performance integration for clients across portfolio, order, analytics, and risk management needs. You will serve as the technical voice bridging product, engineering, and client requirements, driving API strategy. This role is pivotal in making CWAN's platform reliable, high-performing, and developer-friendly for both internal modules and external client integrations.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the API strategy for CWAN, extending Core API offerings across Order & Execution Management (OEMS), Portfolio Management (PMS), and analytics modules.
- Coordinate the development and continuous improvement of REST and Streaming APIs, enabling clients to automate workflows, integrate external systems, and achieve real-time data access.
- Own scalability and performance objectives: set and track SLAs for API response time, throughput, error rates, and real-time update capacity.
- Analyze performance test results and oversee solutions for high-load scenarios (e.g., streaming millions of asset measure updates, bulk report pulls, concurrent order processing).
- Act as a technical interface to engineering for optimizing web infrastructure, database transaction performance, service orchestration, and caching.
- Collaborate with product and client teams to understand integration needs, ensuring APIs provide flexible, reliable, and secure access to CWAN’s unified data.
- Monitor API adoption and client feedback, translating business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives around platform performance, resiliency, and disaster recovery preparedness.
- Document and communicate API features, limits, and best practices to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain awareness of market trends and emerging technologies around API strategy, SaaS scalability, and integration.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of proven experience owning API strategy or platform scalability initiatives for a SaaS product—ideally in asset management, trading, or financial technology.
- Strong technical proficiency with REST/WebSocket APIs, database optimization, and distributed service architectures.
- Track record of solving performance and scalability challenges in high-frequency data environments.
- Experience defining and enforcing API SLAs, monitoring performance metrics, and managing change/release cycles.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to rigorous documentation, end-to-end performance testing, and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with order management, portfolio analytics, or financial reporting workflows.
- Understanding of security, authentication, and compliance best practices for APIs.
- Experience driving platform-level product initiatives in a cross-functional setting.
- Chicago Salary Range: $170,000 - 230,000 + Bonus + RSU's
