About The Role
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative professional to lead HP’s engagement on sustainability and environmental policy issues across Europe. Based in Brussels, this role will be part of the Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) team and will drive HP’s strategy, advocacy, and positioning on key regulatory and policy developments related to sustainability, climate, and circular economy.
This leader will serve as HP’s primary representative with EU institutions, national governments, industry coalitions, and NGOs on environmental and sustainability issues, ensuring HP is positioned as a trusted and credible voice in advancing practical, business-relevant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Leadership
- Monitor, analyze, and shape EU and member state sustainability policy developments (e.g., climate targets, circular economy, ESG reporting, eco-design, waste and recycling, packaging, chemicals).
- Advise senior executives on risks, opportunities, and long-term implications of European sustainability regulations.
- Develop HP’s policy positions, aligning with global sustainability strategy and business priorities.
Advocacy & Representation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EU Commission, Parliament, Council, and national regulators in key markets.
- Represent HP in industry associations, alliances, and public-private partnerships on sustainability.
- Engage with NGOs, think tanks, and academia to strengthen HP’s role in shaping environmental policies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with HP’s Sustainability and ESG teams to ensure policy alignment with company goals and commitments.
- Work closely with business units (Personal Systems, Print, Supply Chain) to assess policy impacts and develop strategies.
- Coordinate with regional and global Government Affairs colleagues to ensure consistency across markets.
Thought Leadership
- Position HP as an industry leader through external engagement, events, and publications.
- Contribute to HP’s narrative on sustainability as a driver of innovation and competitiveness.

Qualifications
- Advanced degree in public policy, international relations, environmental studies, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EU public policy, with a strong track record in sustainability/environmental policy.
- Deep understanding of EU institutions and policymaking processes.
- Strong network in Brussels across government, industry, and NGOs.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to translate complex policy developments into clear business implications.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in French or another European language strongly preferred.
