As the Tax Co-op, your primary responsibility will be reconciliation of the tax general ledger accounts, including analyses of partner tax liabilities and withholdings based on review of tax filings and general ledger activity. Additional responsibilities include preparing journal entries and calculations for departed or retired partners and providing general support to the Tax Team.
What You Do:
- Prepare reconciliations for tax general ledger accounts to ensure that the account balances are up-to-date.
- Review departed or retired partners’ general ledger balances to determine if the Firm has collected all taxes paid on their behalf.
- Prepare journal entries to book individual partner tax liabilities and correct any discrepancies found in any of the tax general ledger accounts.
- Support the tax team with day-to-day and recurring functions such as estimated tax payments or quarterly filings.
- Assist with creating process documentation to support current procedures.
- Recommend ways to improve productivity and automation.
- Provide back-up for other team members as needed.
Who You Are:
- Working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or other related field of study.
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Firm professionally and work collaboratively across different functions.
- Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality policies surrounding partner and Firm information.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to comprehend and apply department policies and procedures.
- Ability to learn and work with accounting software (Aderant Expert).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
