Summary
The Communications Operations Manager is a crucial role within the Communications department at The Walt Disney Studios, responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of internal events, vendor management, and project coordination. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and project management skills. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, proactively identify and resolve issues, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Event Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute internal events for employees, including town halls, large scale internal events, conferences, leadership events, and other types of events.
- Manage event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audio-visual equipment, purchasing, and attendee registration.
Track Event Expenses.
- Post-event evaluation and reporting on event success.
Vendor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with vendors related to events, including caterers, A/V companies, activity companies, and others.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance aligns with expectations.
- Assess vendor documentation, including insurance requirements and other relevant certifications.
Manage Vendor Invoices.
Project Coordination:
- Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Communicate project updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in event management, project coordination, or a related field. Experience in a Communications department is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with Kanban-like project management methodologies and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, social media marketing, and A/V production; including live streaming, video capture, editing, and video streaming tools.
