We are seeking a talented individual to join Mercer in our Fund Accounting team. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working three days a week in the office in either Sydney or Melbourne.
Fund Accounting Leader - Investments
The Fund Accounting Leader is a key business partner and a trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders who can provide strategic insights to support decision making and the achievement of audit and regulatory compliance.
We will count on you to:
- Provide strategic oversight and direction to the Fund Accounting team, ensuring high-quality service delivery, effective controls, and efficient processes aligned with service agreements.
- Lead the preparation and review of financial statements for Mercer’s investment products, liaising with Northern Trust, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and mentor a small team, fostering staff engagement, career development, and succession planning.
- Drive change management initiatives across regulatory, process, technology, and product areas to continuously improve the Fund Services operating model.
- Support investment product changes by providing subject matter expertise for solution design, testing, and go-live readiness.
What You Need To Have:
- Graduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, or Accounting, with membership in a relevant accounting professional body (e.g., ICA or ASCPA) preferred.
- 10+ years of senior accounting experience within superannuation administration, custodial, or audit environments, including external client management and leadership of teams (offshore experience desirable).
- Strong technical expertise in investment accounting, financial accounting, tax for investment funds, and accounting standards.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
- Proven ability to maintain strong controls, improve processes, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
