Overview Of The Department/Section
Financial Institutions Group is the relationship management/ coverage team for Financial Institutions in EMEA. The team has responsibility to expand business with Financial Institutions by collaborating with various stakeholders from the Bank, MUFG Securities (MUSE) and MUTB (Investor Services, Asset Management & Trust Bank) under the One MUFG approach.

Main Purpose Of The Role
This position is directly responsible for FI clients in the UK, Israel & International Subsidiaries with the principal focus on large bank groups, specialist lenders and select wealth managers. The main focus is on identifying and understanding their needs, to build productive, long term client relationships and to maximise revenue and profitability. Banks include Central Banks, Commercial/ Investment banks and Broker-dealers. Specialist lenders will include UK mortgage lenders, credit cards and consumer lenders and auto loan & inventory finance companies.
This position has a leadership role to devise and pursue FI business strategies within the Bank and across all MUFG entities.
Whilst there is an existing FIG EMEA business plan in place, this role is to spearhead the development of the specific strategy relating to this area of geographic responsibility and to grow the business accordingly working in close conjunction with all stakeholders and across regions.
The products promoted will include all products from the Bank, MUSE and MUTB keeping in mind relevant regulations on each.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategies for the FI portfolio working closely with all product partners.
- Manage client relationships by understanding and assessing needs to offer relevant products and service, developing ideas and services that maximise benefits for both clients and MUFG.
- Lead the global relationship with the FI clients in charge by collaborating with the regional relationship managers/product partners in the US/APAC/Japan
- Discuss, present, understand risk, oversee, and monitor the product of credit applications ensuring compliance within MUFG and wider regulations, policies and procedures and providing sufficient information to enable appropriate credit decisions to be made for Bank clients
- Review documentation and manage the process (e.g. approval, documentation, signing, drawdowns) within the function ensuring that documents are further actioned as appropriate for bank
- Contribute to the development of FI business strategy for MUFG taken as a whole
- Contribute to the on-going process in improving activities within client relationship management by identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and collaborative working
- Ensure adherence to all requirements and that standards are fully met and maintained at the highest level of standard
- Fulfil other various tasks necessary for business promotion and portfolio management instructed by Head of FIG EMEA and other more senior stakeholders at Bank.
- Maintain a close and open relationship with FI team members and the relevant teams/departments of the Bank and MUFG entities, ensuring two-way information flow and access to clients
Work Experience
- Experience in the Financial Institutions sector and in relevant product origination or account management role with commercial banks, insurance companies in EMEA
- Extensive knowledge in any of the main product areas of FI business (e.g.; Credit/Lending, Trade Finance, Securitization, Debt Capital Markets, Structured Products, and all other relevant products in Global Markets)
- Experience of devising portfolio strategies and managing teams
- Managing of complex credits working closely with the analysis and credit teams.
- Experience of coordinating complex projects
Skills And Experience
Functional / Technical Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills
- General and specialist knowledge of FI sector (i.e.: regulatory environment, MiFID 2, Basel 3, Solvency 2, compliance /KYC procedures)
- Knowledge of FI related products for Bank, MUSE and MUTB
- Sound understanding of banking business (Securitisation, FX, Loan, Deposit, Trade Finance, etc.)
- Securities business experience (DCM, Loans, Rates & Repos, etc)
- Good understanding of large FI clients in EMEA
- Good credit analysis skills
- Sound understanding in internal banking system and procedures
- Clear communication skills
- Good IT knowledge and skill (Microsoft Office)
- Sound Data analysis and presentation creation skills
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
