Position Summary

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (Lead Member of Technical Staff) to join the Athena Environments and Stability zone in our Chennai office. Our teams are organizational enablers and productivity multipliers in support of athenaOne products and services. We provide cost-optimized, technology appropriate, resilient, regulatory compliant product environments to serve our customers at maximum efficiency and satisfaction. This position is a part of our Tech Modernization initiative, with a focus on enabling the containerization of legacy applications and evolving how we deploy and operate our various environments.

You are a technologist with a zeal to solve complex problems. You possess a growth-oriented mindset and are a quick learner, looking to work in fast paced environment with total accountability. You possess strong experience with large scale application development, Distributed /microservices architecture, build & deploy containerized applications and services on container platforms like Kubernetes and Docker. As a Lead Engineer on our team, you will play a crucial role in accelerating our efforts to migrate the existing athenaOne perl application into a modern, containerized world.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the appropriate detail.  
  • Deliver customer value in the form of high-quality software components and services in adherence with policies on Security, performance, longevity, and Integration testing. 
  • Understand, debug existing systems, and propose new, alternative technology to make them more scalable and achieve results.
  • Perform peer code reviews to ensure quality standards.
  • Provide your input in design discussions.
  • Develop knowledge to act as a domain expert, share business and technical insights with the team and broaden engineering and product organization.
  • Collaborate inclusively with cross-functional team members to develop product solutions that help improve health outcomes for patients.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot production and non-production issues and support athenaOne customers.
  • Demonstrate ownership for what you and the team build and deploy in production. 
  • Take lead on RCA discussions, production issues and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  •  8+ years of commercial software development experience with significant product development expertise dealing with large scale.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern programming languages /application development frameworks such as: Java, JavaScript, Spring framework.
  • Experience working with established large codebase, added Advantage: Full stack development experience.  
  • Experience of Distributed systems and Microservices.
  • Good working experience with Perl/Python & Unix scripting skills,
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux, SQL, NOSQL, and related tools and performance tuning.
  • Experience in building and deploying containerized applications on cloud platforms like AWS ECS/EKS and familiarity in AWS Cloud Infrastructure. 
  • Knowledge of Agile SDLC practices; familiarity with unit and integration testing, as well as design and code reviews and documentation.
  • Ability to write code that is technically sound, testable, resilient, performant, scalable, and readable.
  • Experience with DevOps principles, and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins along with git, bitbucket and other source code repositories.
  • Familiarity with application build, deployment, monitoring tools & frameworks like CI/CD  in Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog etc.
  • Strong communication skills to work across geographies, and a record of engineering achievement, code ownership, and customer orientation.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills that encourage growth for more junior members.
  • Track record of designing and delivering cloud-based products, modules, and services.
  • Proven track record of implementing and adopting new technologies and methodologies.
