Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for domestic power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

An opportunity exists for a motivated and dynamic Reliability Engineer at MGO. Working a Monday to Friday, dayshift roster, and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be a team leader responsible for the improvement of plant and equipment reliability. 

In this role you will analyse downtime data to identify existing and emerging reliability issues, looking for the root cause analysis of failures and incidents and the identification of solutions to prevent recurrence.  Your efforts will ensure periodic review and proactive improvement of maintenance strategy to prevent unplanned failures, while also considering and project managing equipment upgrades and other changes as required.

The requirements for success in this role include:

• Mechanical Trade qualification or relevant Engineering qualification (highly desirable).
• Experience in Open Cut Mining.
• Experience in Mobile Equipment (Caterpillar, Liebherr, Hitachi) and fault finding.
• Experience in operation of FMECA Software and service sheet outputs.
• Proven commitment to a safety-first approach to all tasks.
• Strong knowledge base and previous experience in SAP Plant Maintenance.
