The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for Category Manufacturing & Technology (Capex Equipment, Manufacturing tools, Hard Services, Technology Engineering Services). The role ensures alignment with business needs, drives supplier performance, and secures long-term value for Accelleron through cost efficiency, innovation, and process excellence. You will join the Indirect Materials & Services team within the Value Chain organization in Baden, reporting to the Global Category Manager Manufacturing and Technology, and work closely with the investment team and factory leadership across our global value chain.

Your Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Define and manage sourcing strategies for Category Manufacturing & Technology and key suppliers (demand, specifications, market, costs, terms & conditions) and establish (global) framework agreements and service level agreements if necessary.
  • Act as proactive partner by engaging divisions, functions, and service network countries early in the sourcing process.
  • Establish clear governance on roles and responsibilities for sourcing categories.
  • Participate in the development of indirect processes (such as GTC, training, communications, supplier onboarding) to increase the value of the Indirect Material & Services function.

Performance

  • Set and monitor value targets (cost, efficiency, process improvement).
  • Apply tools and tactics such as spend analysis, KPIs, SLAs, and vendor performance monitoring.

Vendor Management

  • Lead supplier relationship management with key vendors to achieve innovation, cost savings, and specification/process improvements.
  • Conduct evaluations of key vendors to ensure performance meets expectations.
  • Manage the lifecycle of vendor agreements and maintain proper documentation.
  • Execute proactive sourcing activities in line with IM&S Policy (market analysis, RFx, bid evaluation, negotiation, contracting, implementation, and continuous improvement).
  • Collaborate effectively with business owners, Finance, Legal, HSE, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and compliant approvals in designated systems.

Your Background

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, ideally in IM&S categories.
  • Experience in the machinery or metal manufacturing industry beneficial, ideally with implementation of advanced technologies (e.g., metal cutting technologies like milling, grinding, etc.).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Experience with supplier relationship management and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to build cross-functional alignment and act as a trusted partner to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a pragmatic, results-driven approach.
  • Team player with high level of motivation, curiosity and a drive to continuously learn and improve.
  • Fluent in both English and German (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency with procurement tools, SAP & Microsoft Office
