Take this opportunity as we now are looking for a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to join our team in Ukraine. The position is based in Stockholm, with frequent, recurring and extended travel to Kyiv.

Having re-established its on-the-ground presence in Kyiv in October 2023, Business Sweden is now expanding its operations. The primary focus is to support Sweden's efforts to strengthen Ukraine by engaging and ensuring the Swedish private sector's involvement in bilateral (Swedish) and multilateral (EU, UN etc.) programs in Ukraine. With a goal of contributing to the effective utilization of Swedish expertise and solutions, the Business Sweden team in Kyiv works on guiding companies regarding opportunities to participate in the rebuilding and development of Ukraine. We also focus on delivering maximum value for Swedish companies looking to expand and operate in Ukraine on a commercial basis.

As part of our ongoing efforts to expand, Business Sweden is currently seeking an experienced business development professional or management consultant to join our Ukraine team, from a base in Stockholm and with frequent travels to Ukraine. This individual will play a key role in shaping our task force activities across sectors such as healthcare, energy, infrastructure, security and beyond.

The Senior Project Management position encompasses a diverse range of assignments and a high level of responsibility, that makes the work truly dynamic and challenging.

The role includes both strategic, operational and tactic responsibilities such as:

  • Engaging the Swedish private sector to support Ukraine, through Sweden's aid and development efforts
  • Leading platforms and engagements within Trade & Development as well as Trade Promotion
  • Interacting with key stakeholders ranging from clients, companies, Swedish and Ukrainian government agencies, multinational organisations
  • Driving sales of consultancy services to existing and new Swedish clients, including insight-driven prospecting and development of customer value propositions, utilising the full network of Business Sweden colleagues and competencies
  • Leading consultancy engagements across our service portfolio and across markets - both of more strategic and more hands-on nature
  • Collaborating with the business development and marketing teams by contributing to externally published reports, market insights and other external communication

The role is based in Stockholm with frequent and extended business travels to Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine, and you will be expected to work with our teams and clients around the world, as required.

The candidate should be aware that this role requires extended time spent in a hardship environment, with an elevated risk, long and uncomfortable travel and a high level of uncertainty. Candidates must have a strong integrity, an awareness for security matters and be able to work in conditions where full certainty and planning far ahead is not always possible.

The role is initially a fixed-term employment of 2 years.

Formal Requirements

  • Master of science in Business Administration or Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience from a consultancy firm, business development or equivalent
  • Extensive experience from living and working in complex or challenging markets—primarily Eastern Europe and Central Asia, or regions such as Latin America, south Asia or Africa
  • You have a high level of proficiency in Swedish, English and Ukrainian (or other Slavic language)
  • It is considered meriting to have experience in the context of the defense and security sector
  • It is considered meriting to have experience in the context of development aid
