Job Summary
Manages the daily activities of the security operations center team including management of command, communications, and control functions, team member safety and security programs, and executive protection and transportation services, which may be performed in conjunction with additional security management responsibilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees monitoring of electronic systems such as fire detection, electronic access control, closed circuit television, alarm systems, HVAC, and other automated building systems to deter and protect against fire, theft, vandalism, terrorism, and all illegal and unauthorized activity.
- Coordinates dispatch and communications, emergency response, incident management, and organization wide notification for security incidents. Monitors and ensures the integrity of data recordkeeping, reports, call logs, and other information collected and maintained by security operations systems and staff.
- Provides support and instruction to security operations staff in the initiation and coordination of building engineering, security, fire, or police department response upon detection of unauthorized, suspicious, or problem activity. Coordinates, directs, and conducts performance monitoring of the team of security personnel responsible for electronic and physical security systems monitoring and other security staff as directed.
- Oversees management of calls received by the security department's emergency lines from employees, contractors, the public, law enforcement, and off-site facilities. Serves as primary security point of contract with law enforcement and external agencies on security incidents and incident response.
- Identifies technical problems and recommends, designs and implements industry best standards as it relates to security monitoring. Prepares reports detailing the activities of the security operations function and manages the flow of information across the Corporate Security function
- Leads the development and delivery of training on security and team member safety issues, risks, processes, and incident response for the company. Works with leadership across Facilities and lines of business to assure that team member safety and security issues are communicated and that team member awareness is maintained.
- Manages scheduling and coverage across a function which provides 7x24x365 coverage and response across the enterprise, while assuring that team member training and certification, personal time off, and mandatory company activities are all considered.
- Leads the risk assessment, planning, and implementation of strategies and plans for protection and transportation of Executive Leadership and Board members for meetings and special events. These duties require the highest level of skills in incident management, emergency response, risk assessment, and firearms training and certification.
- Performs other security management duties as dictated by the work environment. Directs personnel responsible for electronic and physical security systems, evaluates performance, and develops process and procedures to insure effective and efficient response by staff assigned to the Security Operations department.
- Manages the annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports. Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company. Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee relations, compensation, training, posting and filling vacant positions and other Human Resources related matters.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
- Performs other related duties as required.

QualificationsMinimum Education:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
Eight years of experience responding to, working in, and managing emergency situations such as armed forces security, military police, law enforcement, or other public safety or corporate security experience; one year of experience in a management/supervisory role.
Certifications:
CPR/AED First Aid certification, valid driver's license and weapons carry license eligibility applicable to assigned location. Must complete and pass state certified firearms qualification course within six months of hire date.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to obtain the necessary licenses as required by the position
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and professional judgment in stressful situations
- Capable of interacting with executive security staff, other company team members, clients, and vendors (as may be necessary for the completion of assigned duties)
- Detailed knowledge of security systems and equipment in a business environment
- Demonstrates supervisory proficiency as it relates to performance monitoring, coaching, and performance review
- Demonstrates ability for multi-tasking and strong organizational, project management, and problem solving skills
- Strong computer skills including office-related products, Internet, databases, and networks
