Saint John's Resort is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to lead the team and help manage the golf facilities, which were constructed in 2022 and 2023. The property includes The Cardinal Championship Course, The Little Cardinal par-3 course, The Cardinal Putting Course, and various practice facilities. In August of 2025, The Cardinal served as the host site for the 2025 LIV Team Championship, where Jon Rahm and the Legion XIII team triumphed with an exciting two-hole playoff victory against Bryson DeChambeau and the Crushers GC team.

Saint John's Resort features a rich history that begins in the late 1940s when St. John's Provincial Seminary opened its doors, paving the way for more than 40 years of memories and learning. In 2021, William Pulte Family Management purchased The Inn at St. John's from the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. 100% of the profits from the resort are donated to The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation and used to support those most in need in the Metro Detroit area and around the world. The late William Pulte worked closely with a small group of local business leaders and Cardinal Maida to finance and develop the former St. John's Provincial Seminary campus into a hotel, conference center, and golf course.

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 year Bachelor's Turfgrass degree or certificate preferred but not required
• 3+ Years of golf course management experience
• Current state licensing as a pesticide applicator within the first 60 days of employment (Core and 3A)
• Cool-Season Turfgrass management experience preferred but not required
• A positive attitude with a strong work ethic, setting a good example for others to follow in job performance
• The ability to learn and retain new things quickly and effectively

Required Experience

The Assistant Superintendent position requires a person with a strong work ethic and a high attention to detail. They must be able to train and monitor team members during day-to-day operations and safe equipment procedures. They will assist with daily course setup and maintenance as needed. The Assistant Superintendent must be dedicated to personal growth and development and possess solid problem-solving skills.

• Provides valuable input on hiring new team members, training, and disciplinary needs
• Manage a staff of 25-30 team members, scheduling work and supervising staff and their use of equipment to prepare the golf course for daily play.
• Assist in applying fertilizers and pesticides to the golf course according to local, state, and federal law
• Manages watering needs to all playing surfaces by scheduling the irrigation central control system and hand watering as is necessary to obtain ideal playing conditions
• Helps to ensure that the golf maintenance facility is clean and organized
