The City of Peoria's Water Services Department has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Inspector within the Environmental Resources Division. This position is part of the Environmental Resources Division, working with the regulatory compliance team to ensure adherence with City, State, and Federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine drinking water and wastewater sample events and projects.
- Operates auto samplers for routine wastewater compliance sampling.
- Utilize database tracking software to monitor compliance and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations related to drinking water and wastewater treatment.
- Continuously coordinates sampling events across multiple city departments for operational and/or compliance sampling events.
- Operates, maintains, and calibrates field sampling equipment utilized for compliance monitoring.
- Perform any additional compliance-related tasks as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working in a municipal or government setting.
- Meticulous work ethic in relation to data entry, chains of custody, environmental regulations, and communication.
- Strong customer service and communication skills to effectively engage with businesses and the public.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local cross-connection regulations.
- One (1) Grade I ADEQ Wastewater Operator Certification and/or one (1) Grade I Water Operator Certification required within one year of hire.
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification required within six months of hire.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements
Education:
- High school plus additional course work (equivalent to up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge and abilities).
Experience:
- 1-year experience. Moderate previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions; can include relevant experience gained through formal internships and training programs.
Physical Demands:
- Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort.
Licenses And Certifications:
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification required within 6 months of hire.
- One (1) Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade I operator certification within one year of hire.
- Valid Arizona Class “D” Driver’s License upon hire.
