The Portfolio Strategy Specialist team achieves our clients’ investment needs by delivering Capital Group’s investment strategies in their vehicle of choice. The Portfolio Strategy Specialist demonstrates full knowledge in assigned area and implements the investment convictions of the portfolio managers within the Capital Group replicated vehicle strategy. Reviews quantitative risk measures to align the replicated vehicle to the target fund while limiting tracking error. Executes investment decisions within predefined guidelines established by the vehicle portfolio managers to rebalance the vehicle as needed.

Vehicle Research, Process Development, and Improvement:

  • Understand the inner workings of the strategies, the specific environment within which the strategies are implemented, and the core objectives of each of the funds and vehicles.
  • Identify and respond to research questions from the daily balance process before and as they arise. Work with the broader PSM team to identify opportunities for continuously improving the strategies.
  • Evaluate the construction and performance of the replicated vehicle and ensure the strategies are working as expected. Fix and trouble shoot the strategies as needed.
  • Co-lead or own average complexity research items, design and build-out of the PSM capability in service of driving to "best execution" for vehicles.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement that are in support of Capital’s PSM program – interactions with IT are regular and continue to provide significant areas for improvement.

Vehicle Alignment And Monitoring Process:

  • Collaborate with the other members of the team to own and execute the daily process for PSM vehicles.
  • Generate the daily recommended trade lists for all relevant vehicles.
  • Ensure timely delivery of the decisions, the integrity of the operations, quality control, responsiveness to GIC, and the IS approval process.
  • Interpret output, understand differences, identify causes, and explore alternatives, as necessary.
  • Work with IT to maintain the model/data environment and support evolution of decision- making support systems and structures.
  • Work independently with senior PMs and other parties to resolve the most complex portfolio transition and re-balancing issues.
  • Independently complete the most complex re-balancing tasks across different accounts using various tools, models, and portfolio optimization technique.
  • Lead weekly vehicle health review process with Vehicle Portfolio Managers, ensure observations follow Strategy Improvement Model process.
  • Design, implement, and improve workflows and approaches.

Vehicle Growth:

  • Partner with Quantitative Research & Analytics /Quantitative Research Technology on new investment strategies research and validation.
  • Lead launch of mature vehicles, including timeline of launch and coordination with partner teams.
  • Lead PSM capability projects and initiatives.
  • Support RFP/RFI feasibility assessments, participate in due diligence meetings alongside Vehicle Portfolio Managers for sophisticated clients.

  • You demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of investment products, asset allocation, securities operations, and the servicing requirements of accounts.
  • You have passion and experience with investment instruments, markets, and the investment process.
  • You have sound judgment in resolving matters of complexity.
  • You demonstrate intellectual curiosity, quantitative capability, and excellent analytical and problem- solving skills.
  • You take initiative by identifying issues and recommending solutions.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of associates including Investment Group, Trading, IT and Global Investment Control.
  • You can identify, assess, respond to, and escalate risks and issues.
  • You thrive under tight time constraints with multiple priorities.
  • You can work independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment.
  • You have 3-5 years’ experience in financial services, preferably in an analytical role.
  • 4-year degree is required, ideally in a quantitative field (i.e., mathematics, finance, or economics).

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
