Accounts Payable Officer - 12 month Maternity Cover

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and ready to make an impact? AWMA is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team for a 12-month maternity cover. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage end-to-end AP processes, ensure financial accuracy, and support project teams across the business.

In this role, you’ll process invoices, purchase orders, staff reimbursements, and credit card transactions while working closely with project managers, engineers, and sales staff. Your contribution will help keep our projects running smoothly and our financial records accurate.

What You’Ll Do:

• Manage and analyse Accounts Payable aging reports to ensure timely payments and identify overdue accounts.
• Code and process purchase orders (POs) accurately, ensuring correct GST treatment and conversion to invoices.
• Process corporate credit card payments and reconcile transactions.
• Respond to and resolve purchase order queries from Project Managers.
• Upload AP files into the banking platform, ensuring batch payments align with invoice totals.
• Verify all purchase orders and invoices have the appropriate approval authority.
• Process staff reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
• Use Trail for invoice processing and attaching supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to process job adjustments and reallocate costs as needed.
• Issue credit notes and adjust invoices to ensure accurate financial records.

What We’Re Looking For:

• 3+ years experience in accounting, finance or similar background.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Understanding of GST compliance and financial systems.
• Proactive, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
