Specialist - Data Science (Digital Cluster)

Working with the Senior Data Science Specialist, leverage expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modelling to drive actionable insights and solutions. The position would be entrusted to find the secrets hidden within data, uncovering untapped potential, and forging the path to innovation.

Core Responsibilities:

• Collect, analyze, and interpret large sets of data from various sources, such as shipping logs, weather patterns, and economic indicators.
• Develop and implement advanced analytics models, such as machine learning and statistical models, to identify trends and patterns in data.
• Use data visualization techniques to present findings to key stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and develop data-driven solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data science and analytics.
• Implement and deploy Machine Learning algorithms for enterprise clients (this is 80% of the job)
• Actively mentor and help junior data scientists on their own projects (this is 20% of the job)
• Develop significant subject matter expertise in our core business verticals.
• Share insights with senior executives and craft related action plans with internal stakeholders.
• Use strong business acumen, as well as an ability to communicate findings, and mine vast amounts of data for useful insights.
• Sift and analyze data from multiple angles, looking for trends that highlight problems or opportunities.
• Use these insights to propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.
• Knowledge in modelling, statistics, analytics, and math’s to solve problems.
• Combine models through ensemble modeling.
• Present information using data visualization techniques. 
• Sharing complex ideas verbally and visually in an understandable manner with non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.
• Extract data from heterogenous data sources.
• Liaise with Systems Administrators, Management, Cloud Administrators, Network Administrators, and DBAs to schedule and implement changes.
• Support production jobs with performance tuning, metrics, and troubleshooting expertise.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process and architecture improvements to prevent issues.
• Conduct impact assessment and determine size of effort based on requirements.
• Manage connections and security credentials for data access.
• Understand up and downstream data sources and consumers.
• Contributes to technical and system architectural planning.
• Reviews Data Warehouse dimensional model
• Tests and implements new technical solutions.

People Management Responsibilites:

• Be able to lead end-to-end data science use case project lifecycle

Strategic Responsibilities:

• None 
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
• MS in Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Operational Research, or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience applying ML, ideally in a customer-facing role. 
• A portfolio of projects (ideally on GitHub) is strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of common ML techniques (regression and classification, time series analysis, supervised & unsupervised learning, and deep learning). 
• Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, statistics, optimization).
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
• Experience with machine learning libraries, such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Keras.
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.
• Experience in shipping, logistics, or port domains is a plus.
