We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team delivering outpatient mental health services in the Lara precinct based at the new Western Plains Correctional Centre.
About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you’ll provide specialist assessment and intervention to patients within forensic settings. You’ll work collaboratively with patients and the clinical team to identify treatment priorities, promote meaningful engagement in occupations, and support recovery and reintegration.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assess and improve occupational performance through functional analysis, risk assessment, and therapeutic engagement.
• Support development of life roles and skills for community adaptation and integration.
• Lead on occupational performance issues and promote engagement in meaningful activities.
• Provide expert consultation to the multidisciplinary team and custodial staff.
• Contribute to the team’s understanding of consumer needs through discipline-specific insights.
About You
You’re a skilled Occupational Therapist with:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience (preferred).
• Strong mental health expertise; forensic experience highly desirable.
• A commitment to ethical practice and the OT Australia Code of Conduct.
• Proven ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• A solid understanding of occupational performance theories, including the Model of Human Occupation.
• Experience supervising other Occupational Therapists.
What You’ll Need
• Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
• Registration with AHPRA.
• Willingness to register qualifications on eCredential.
