Are you a strategic, growth-minded leader with a strong commercial focus and a passion for guiding multidisciplinary teams? DNV is seeking a Service Area Manager / Senior Vice President to lead our Mid/Downstream and Labs service area, which supports clients in enhancing the safety, reliability, and compliance of their pipeline portfolios.
This senior leadership role is responsible for driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence, while ensuring the long-term performance of the service area. You will provide strategic direction, strengthen client relationships, and foster a high-performance culture built on collaboration, innovation, and employee development. A strong foundation in Materials Science, pipeline integrity, and laboratory testing will enable you to guide multidisciplinary teams and deliver innovative solutions that meet client needs in an evolving energy landscape.
This role is based at our DNV office in Columbus, Ohio, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. What You’Ll Do:
- Provide Strategic Leadership: Lead the execution of initiatives that align with the DNV strategy and ensure long-term business success, focusing on revenue growth, profitability, service innovation, and talent development.
- Drive operational excellence: Enhance efficiency, optimize business operations, and promote sustainable performance while encouraging innovation.
- Expand customer relationships: Champion business development initiatives that leverage our expertise in pipeline integrity, corrosion and material performance to deepen client partnerships and open opportunities for new engagements.
- Lead people and culture: Inspire, guide, and empower about 125 employees to perform at their best, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and accountability.
- Ensure quality of service: Strive for consistent, high-quality delivery of materials testing, forensic investigations and compliance assessments that exceeds customer expectations.
- Represent industry leadership: Position DNV as a trusted advisor by promoting thought leadership and representing the company at industry events.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with other units within DNV, as well as business partners, to maximize value for our customers.

What Is Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of industry experience, with significant leadership responsibility.
- 10+ years leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams in a global, matrixed environment.
- Great communication and people leadership skills demonstrated by past work experience.
- Proven ability to design initiatives to execute strategy, grow businesses across customer segments, and deliver commercial results.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to drive thought leadership in Materials Science and pipeline reliability.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally for conferences, client, and internal meetings.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills

What Is Preferred
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, engineering, business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Materials Science applications in energy infrastructure, failure analysis, and pipeline integrity.
