RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR
JOB SUMMARY
The Residential Supervisor will serve as the staff supervisor for a pod of residential group homes. The supervisor will work a majority of their time in the group homes supporting staff but not part of the staff ratio. It is expected that the residential supervisor will work most weekends and holidays. The work times will vary from day to day based on the determined needs of each location. The overall goal of this position is to provide an accountable, well-trained and supported workforce.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma/equivalent required.
Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and/or adults with intellectual disabilities. Supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have a valid PA Driver’s License, must be eligible for insurance under Barber National Institute. Upon hire, must successfully complete Medications Administration Training, CPR and First Aid Certification. Must obtain PA State Police Criminal History and PA Child Abuse History Clearances. FBI clearance is required for individuals who do not meet PA residency requirements and/or if they will be working with minors under the age of 18.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversees all direct support staff in assigned Residential group homes, providing training, support and supervision, creates and maintains schedules (including calls offs and shift coverage).
• Completes employees' introductory and annual performance reviews.
• Reviews and approves assigned employees' benefit requests and bi-weekly timecards. Coordinates benefit time utilization among employees.
• Ensures completion and submission of staff accident reports and follows up on staff injuries.
• Monthly Staff Meetings at each supervised site.
• Provides ongoing user support for Kronos and CareLogic to assigned staff.
• Coordinates work efforts of all employees assigned to facility.
• Provides on-site orientation of new employees.
• Monitors and assures that facility staff are scheduled for and attend mandatory in service training and complete employee annual requirements.
• Assists in the hiring of potential staff, making recommendations in hiring decision.
• Serve as liaison with Employee Relations/HR on pertinent issues.
• Reviews 3rd Shift reports and follows up with staff as needed
• Completes monitoring visits to assigned group homes.
PROGRAM RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares and coordinates the appropriate aspects of licensing inspections and contractual reviews. Ensures all Intellectual Disability Services programmatic components and physical sites meet standards at all times for licensure and certification. Ensures that overall operation of service location is in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Provide performance reports to the associate director at periodic intervals.
• Oversees fire and emergency evacuation training and drills for assigned homes.
• Monitors condition of program area and ensures safety and standards are met at all times. Ensures that all appropriate house wares and equipment are obtained and maintained for each assigned facility. Communicates concerns with Associate Director and maintenance as necessary.
• Monitors employee overtime and program spending for assigned homes and communicates concerns with management.
• Monitors and assures the the weekly facility and food budgets are maintained.
• Oversees the coordination of all transportation for assigned service locations, including documentation, reporting, inspections and repairs.
• Actively participates in mentorship and coaching culture to enrich the relationship between supervisor and staff as to provide the staff with a support system that can help him/her succeed. Maintain good communication with Program Specialist and Associate Director to ensure a consistent approach with staff and individuals
• Assists the Associate Director with recommending, planning and/or implementing improved program concepts and direct staff development programs when requested.
• Attends and participates in client intake, admission, discharge and annual meetings
• Fosters effective professional relationships with families, inter-agency staff and outside agencies. Attends monthly recruitment meetings and completes follow-up as needed.
• Responsible to be trained in Medication Administration and as a Trainer or Med observer, and completes all required trainings to maintain certification within compliance requirements.
• Schedules Client Medical Appointments and assures staffing is in place to achieve.
• Adheres to all agency policies and procedures and communicates these to direct service staff.
• Knowledgeable of 6400 regulations and ensures all staff have a good working knowledge of regulations, BNI policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Immediately reports abuse or suspected abuse to appropriate party while ensuring the safety of individuals.
OTHER:
• Understands that added work or irregular hours may be required.
• Understand that other duties and assignments may be added or deleted as necessary.
• Completes 24 Hours of Program Related In-service training annually in compliance with regulation requirements and other trainings as required.
