About This Opportunity
Join UQ as a Senior Manager, Superintendent within the P&F Program Management Office (PMO) and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our capital works program. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to lead contract administration across high-impact construction projects, acting on behalf of the P&F Director of Development and Project Delivery. You’ll collaborate closely with senior leaders and the Project Delivery team to ensure projects meet contractual, quality, and timeline expectations.
As a key contributor within the PMO, you’ll help standardise delivery practices, drive process improvements, and mentor project managers—fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Duties and responsibilities across select P&F Capital Works Projects include, but are not limited to:
Contract Administration & Certification:
- Administer contracts in accordance with UQ’s construction contracts and in accordance with the role of a Superintendent according to QBCC.
- Work with Project Managers to assess and approve construction programs and monitor progress.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with design documentation, safety standards and contractual obligations.
Project Delivery Team Coordination:
- Work collaboratively with the Associate Director, Program Operations in all matters relating to project delivery.
- Work with and guide Project Managers (as required) to resolve ambiguities in contract documents and technical requirements.
- Identify and manage latent conditions, delays, and disputes in accordance with contract procedures and work with the Senior Manager, Contracts, the Associate Director, Program Operations to resolve this a fair and reputable manner.
Pmo Engagement & Process Improvement:
- Work collaboratively with the Associate Director, PMO and contribute to the broader suite of capital works delivery guidance documentation, designed to enable and empower the Project Delivery Team.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Manager, Contracts, to promote consistent practices across projects, to reduce risk and improve delivery outcomes.
- Provide feedback on contract administration processes and contribute to the refinement of delivery standards.

Salary Packaging Options
About You
Essential:
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
- Ability to demonstrate minimum 10 years’ experience, administering contracts and supervising construction projects as a Superintendent, ideally within the QLD social infrastructure or QLD public sector.
- Proven ability to act as an independent assessor, maintaining fairness and objectivity while representing the Principal’s interests.
- Ability to discuss and demonstrate an understanding of construction delivery legal principals across a various contract types, including their intersection with Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) regulations and requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and engagement skills, with the ability to liaise across academic, operational, and contractor teams
- Willingness to work as part of a broader team, focused on continuous improvement and building maturity as collective group across a capital works program
- Proficient in interpreting design drawings, specifications, and compliance codes relevant to tertiary education projects
Desirable But Not Mandatory:
- A QBCC licence type suitable for the provision of project management and superintendent services
- Familiarity with the Australian Standard Contract Suite, including the AS HB 140 – 2000 ‘Administration Manual for the Superintendent’
- Demonstrated capability in developing, refining, and embedding construction delivery standards, including the ability to translate contract principles into practical tools, workflows, and training resources
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
