Requirements
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement strategic underwriting initiatives aligned with the company's goals and market demands.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures while maintaining discipline and profitability.
- Evaluate and underwrite intricate Casualty risks, including but not limited to General Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Auto Liability.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, utilizing analytical tools and industry insights to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential exposures.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and industry stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop client engagement strategies and address client needs effectively.
- Provide expert guidance and solutions to clients, ensuring their unique insurance requirements are met.
- Manage and optimize the Casualty underwriting portfolio to achieve a balanced and profitable book of business.
- Lead and manage a team of Underwriting Assistants, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure efficient workflow and professional development.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for adjustments to enhance overall profitability.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Casualty underwriting roles within the insurance industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Casualty products and coverages, including General Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Auto Liability.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and underwriting data effectively.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are advantageous.
