Purpose / Summary:
The Engineering Design Systems (EDS) Specialist provides technical expertise across multiple 2D/3D design platforms, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, AVEVA E3D, and Smart3D (S3D), supporting all projects within Worley’s US East offices.
This role is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and supporting Worley’s engineering and design software systems to ensure smooth project delivery. Duties include software setup, database configuration, integration with other tools, troubleshooting issues, and managing access controls and project-level settings. The EDS Specialist works closely with Engineering and Design departments to provide operational and development support, driving efficiencies and continuous improvement in project design systems.
This position sits onsite at our Reading, PA office.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, administer, and maintain 2D/3D engineering design systems and project databases.
- Provide user support for 2D/3D CAD software, including model design, drawing extraction, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure uptime and performance.
- Integrate and manage laser scan data within 3D model systems.
- Coordinate with IT and vendor support for hardware, network, and software requirements.
- Set up project database servers and manage system-level access and security controls.
- Develop and refine procedures, work instructions, and standards to improve project efficiency.
- Deliver user education, training, and onboarding for CAD tools and processes.
- Manage reporting tools and outputs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prioritize workload to meet project needs while minimizing disruption to design teams.
Technical And Industry Experience:
- Experience administering and supporting AVEVA E3D / PDMS / S3D / AutoCAD / MicroStation.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, ReCap, and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of piping, civil, and structural design standards.
- Hands-on experience with 2D/3D CAD administration, catalogs and specifications, customization, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and/or Oracle database systems.
- Experience supporting multi-office worksharing environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills; able to work effectively in a virtual team setting.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant mechanical and piping design experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Windows and Windows Server environments, including user access, network operations, and configuration management.
- Understanding of safety and environmental best practices consistent with world-class HSE performance.
