About The Role
AGL has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Operational Reliability Engineer - Hydro to join AGL’s renewables division in Mount Beauty supporting 14 Hydro Power Electric stations in NSW and Victoria.
The position is based in our Mount Beauty office, in the heart of the Kiewa Valley with Falls Creek and the Alpine National Park at your doorstep.

What you will be doing
As Senior Operational Reliability Engineer – Hydro, you will be responsible for the development and optimisation of electrical, mechanical and civil maintenance strategies across the Hydro Power portfolio, to minimise asset downtime and ensure assets are maintained efficiently and effectively:
- Data-driven reliability expertise: Skilled in analysing turbine performance, condition monitoring data, and failure trends to proactively improve asset reliability.
- Technical problem-solving: Strong capability in root cause analysis, FMECA, and developing cost-effective monitoring solutions for complex engineering issues.
- Strategic maintenance planning: Experience in refining Reliability-Centered Maintenance strategies and optimising spare parts and task intervals based on asset criticality.
- Collaborative stakeholder engagement: Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Advanced analytical tools proficiency: Familiar with SAP, Data analysis software, and reliability software to support performance reporting and decision-making
What you will bring
- Bachelor qualification in Engineering – Electrical / Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Experience utilizing Reliability Engineering techniques and Asset Management principles todrive improvement highly desirable.
- Demonstrated previous experience in leading reliability improvement initiatives anddeveloping maintenance documentation in power stations or other similar heavy industry
- Understanding of SAP as a CMMS is highly desirable
- Familiarity with platforms such as Power BI, OSI PI, Reliability, RCA and Condition Monitoring software are desirable.
