Job Summary:

Peer Tutor assist in academic support by meeting them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Tutoring is a supplement to teaching. Tutors provide motivation for learning and act as role models for their peers. They work on an individual basis or in group sessions to answer student's questions on course content and provide study strategies to aid in the mastery of course content. They actively provide an outstanding academic support service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. They assist students with developing effective study habits, use of appropriate learning resources and learning strategies to enhance student learning.

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Facilitates both individual and group tutoring sessions based on curriculum and program coordinator's discretion.
• Assists students in developing effective learning strategies and critical thinking skills using appropriate equipment and resources.
• Creates and maintains a tutoring schedule that is convenient for both the student and the tutor.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of each tutoring session.
• Ensures strict confidentiality of all student information, materials, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship.
• Performs front desk activities, including answering the phone, scheduling, and record keeping in the absence of the Tutor Coordinator.
• Proctors tests as needed.
• Tutors students for standardized admission tests such as TEAS and GRE.
• Provides motivation for learning and acts as a role model for peers.
• Answers students' questions on course content and provides study strategies.
• Actively provides outstanding academic support service and maintains respectful relationships with all.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

Associate’s degree

• Has received a grade of “B” or better in any course tutored
• Eligible to tutor a desired General Education course upon Professor recommendation
• Eligible to tutor a desired Professional Program course upon ADU Program Professor/Chair recommendation.
• Ability to function as a peer tutor for ADU students and professional program students
• Be punctual for all tutoring sessions
• Follow all applicable ADU policies outlined in the Employee and Student Handbooks

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
• Has received a grade of “B” or better in any course tutored
• Eligible to tutor a desired General Education course upon Professor recommendation
• Eligible to tutor a desired Professional Program course upon ADU Program Professor/Chair recommendation.
