JOB SUMMARY
The pharmacy coordinator plays a vital role in advancing pharmacy practice and improving patient care across ambulatory services. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote clinical excellence and operational efficiency. The coordinator will lead quality improvement initiatives, support professional development for pharmacists and technicians, and help streamline pharmacy operations. The role will focus on operational and clinical coordination within the Central Ambulatory Access team.

Experience And Educationrequired
- EducationBachelor's Degree BS degree or PharmD from ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
- Experience2 years of experience or Equivalent pharmacy resident experience.
- Licenses and Certifications(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hireLicensed by Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required upon hire

- ExperienceExperience in hospital practice setting preferred.
Job Duties
- Maintains and enforces organizational and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement initiatives, environmental and infection control standards.
- Identifies opportunities for cost containment and promotes cost effective utilization of resources. Assists with budget preparation and daily financial activity.
- Promotes pharmacy services. Assists with coordination of organizational and patient care initiatives. Attends multi-disciplinary in-services, meetings, PI, etc.
- Enforces Pharmacy and Therapeutic and cost savings initiatives through monitoring of documented interventions and pharmacist order entry. Verifies data, develops measures, and reports outcomes.
- Mentors staff in good decision-making skills, and problem identification and resolution processes. Promotes staff ownership of work environment encouraging process improvement actions.
- Supports cost savings initiatives. Participates in assessment and selection of cost-effective pharmaceuticals. Enforces formulary system and protocols for acquisition of NF product.
- Maintains high visibility and/or availability through participation in departmental in-services, meetings, and daily activities. Contributes ideas and identifies opportunities for process improvements to better deliver prompt and safe patient care.
- Interviews, selects, and hires qualified candidates. Evaluates employee performance. Completes annual appraisals and provides documentation of commendations or disciplinary actions.
- Coordinates staff development and education. Orients new employees, coordinates training, establishes expectation and documents progress. Enhances personal growth, development, and management skills by review of current literature, participating in continuing educational programs, in-services, and meetings.
- Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing, or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing, or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
