Job Description

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

As Team Leader within Chemistry, you will manage day to day operations and organisation of the laboratory ensuring samples are processed accurately, promptly and efficiently for required testing while maintaining high standards of compliance with Health and Safety, Quality System and Customer requirements. 

This is a production focused role intended to maintain turnaround times, coach and mentor junior members of the team while improving performance in both production and the quality management system.

Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Ensure laboratory is operated in a safe manner in accordance with Eurofins H&S system requirements.
  • Implementing the quality system requirements in all areas of work including ensuring amendments to the Quality Manual or other QA documentation are promptly implemented as instructed. 
  • Drive performance efficiencies to deliver continuous improvement in various operational and customer KPIs.
  • Assist with daily planning of Department’s workload to ensure customer deadlines are met and continually improve TATs against all internal and sub-contracted tests.
  • Coordinating the Equipment Calibration schedules liaising with the individual departments and external suppliers.
  • Co-ordinating participation in External Proficiency schemes, to ensure that the scope of accreditation is effectively covered across all testing disciplines.
  • Ensure the timely investigation of customer complaints, queries and other sources of non- conforming work.
  • Perform testing as required to ensure customer and operational needs are met.
  • Provide guidance, training and guidance to staff while improving resilience with cross training between departments.
  • Ensure that laboratory resources – equipment, materials and staff – are properly used at all times.
  • Ensure samples are received into the laboratory in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Possess good working knowledge of relevant documents within the Quality System including Test Methods, Quality Manual, methods and client specific standards or specifications (where relevant).
  • Proactively support maintenance of QMS to meet INAB/ISO17025 and customer requirements.
  • Proactively investigate any faults or problems and, if not resolved, report findings to Management without delay.
  • Proactively assist with and propose new technologies and innovate solutions to support the ongoing technical and operational development of the department.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level within Chemistry/related field.
  • Experience in a ISO 17025 Laboratory working with ICP-MS, GC and LC techniques and/or other automated photometric analyser, Ion Chromatography and other Wet Chemistry techniques preferred.
  • Experience in method development, method optimisation and validation.
  • Extensive knowledge of QMS under ISO17025, its implementation and maintenance.
  • Able to demonstrate technical knowledge to supervise and lead others through training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • People management skills.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
