Position Summary:

The Outreach Supervisor will work for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine and report to the Program Manager responsible for coordinating the Cure Violence Program located in Chester, PA and is primarily responsible for the supervision of the outreach component of the program.

Job Details:

  • This is a grant funded position
  • This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprinting

Required Education And Experience:

* At least two years experience working with at-risk youth and gang members, and experience or training in crisis intervention. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with crisis intervention.
  • Understanding of identifying and diffusing “hot spots” for shooting and violence.

Required Skills And Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving the communities and residents of Chester, PA.
  • Demonstrated ability in relationship building and working with individuals in an outreach setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to be detail-oriented and to handle multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, along with the ability to operate standard office equipment and software including MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
  • May need to travel to locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.

Essential Duties:

  • Plan the day-to-day and week-to week activities with and for the outreach staff
  • Conduct daily meetings to review current shooting and assess what additional interventions are needed
  • Connecting with additional resources from neighboring communities to get needed support
  • Supervising outreach workers staff, including daily communication with each staff member
  • Developing networks with other outreach program workers to coordinate an inclusive and immediate strategic response
  • Investigating causes of shootings to assist in mediating situations and preventing retaliations between individuals and groups
  • Working with the community, outreach programs, and local law enforcement to gain information that may be helpful in preventing additional shootings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
