Pay Range: $19.30-$20.78/Hourly | 100% onsite | Durant, Oklahoma | Tuesday-Saturday 8:30am-5:00pm
Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Cultural Center Educator supports the educational needs of the Choctaw Cultural Center through delivery of educational elements, activities, and classes by identifying priorities that maintain schedules and deliver programs. You will report to the Director of Education.
Primary Tasks:
- Deliver a variety of educational activities and programs across the Choctaw Cultural Center, including but not limited to tours for a variety of audiences, demonstrations, exhibition-related programs, and public programs.
- Instruct and/or assist in the development of curriculum and programs that educate through experiences such as cultural dancing, stickball, exhibits, and Living Village presentations plus skills in the fields of archeology, visual arts/fine arts, teaching, museum, art/culture, history, horticulture, cultural organizations, and volunteer work.
- Prepare to meet the Cultural Center’s programing needs related to educational classes being offered through study, additional research, overall preparation, and the meeting of instruction-based learning objectives.
- Monitor and offer feedback on classes and programs for continuous academic and cultural improvements. Gather survey instruments when appropriate.
- Support and help coordinate Choctaw Cultural Center events such as National Native American Heritage Month and Art Marketplace.
- Provide age-appropriate instruction and activities for all programs and guests.
- Possess and demonstrate public speaking experience for assisting all programming and educational events.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Basic Choctaw cultural competency
- Ability to speak publicly and deliver programs comfortably
- Good organizational and guest service skills
- Basic office and computer skills
- Knowledge of Smart Board technology for trainings and programs
- One [1] year of experience in teaching, culture, arts, history, museums, or related field
