Do you want to play a key role in supporting the safety and security culture of Scottish Government?
All areas of Facilities Services support the safety and security of people and SG assets. The Control Room team particularly focus on the safety and security of the estate via remote monitoring. Security Control Room Officers participate in the safety and security culture across the service.
- Conduct proactive surveillance using CCTV systems and analytics to detect and respond to security incidents.
- Monitor and respond to fire, intruder, and other alarm systems, attending sites and liaising with emergency services as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of incidents, decisions, and shift handovers in line with control room protocols.
- Provide key holder services for Scottish Government and partner organisations, including site access and securing premises.
- Undertake scheduled and ad-hoc mobile patrols across Edinburgh to ensure the integrity of buildings and grounds.
- Manage access control during silent hours, ensuring only authorised personnel are admitted to secure sites.
- Act as first responder for out-of-hours activations of the Scottish Government Resilience Room (SGORR).
- Support the control room with ad-hoc administrative tasks to ensure smooth operational delivery.
Qualifications
The post holder must hold a valid UK Driving Licence.
The post holder must hold a current SIA CCTV Operator licence or be prepared to undergo and successfully complete appropriate training to obtain this.

Working Pattern
Shift pattern providing 24/7 cover over a four days on, four days off pattern. For working shifts you receive an additional allowance of 21%. You may be asked to fill in on overtime for which an allowance will be paid.
Security Checks
Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
