We operate a hybrid model and flexible on location but there would be a requirement to be based at either our Hatfield office or one of our fulfilment centres twice a week on average: Hatfield, Andover, Bicester, Bristol, Dordon, Erith, Luton or Purfleet.

About the role:
We wouldn’t be able to positively impact the way the world shops without our passionate team members - who keep our business running, our vans delivering, our customers' products picked and packed and our proprietary technology operating at optimum levels. Both behind the scenes within the warehouses and across the front end of the customer experience which means we now have an opportunity for a Food Safety - Compliance Technologist to join the team.

You will champion food safety and quality culture by working with key stakeholders within the Ocado operation to ensure that the onsite compliance processes are understood, fit for purpose and completed correctly. You will be the go to person for sites and service providers to contact for on site processes.

This role will require you to engage with stakeholders across the business, to identify, evaluate and, through working collaboratively with operational teams, pursue and implement opportunities for continuous improvement related to food safety, quality standards, business compliance and performance. The business will look to you to develop product safety excellence through identifying and sharing best practice across sites.

You will be
- Champion food safety and quality culture in the business and provide technical support on compliance.
- Engage with stakeholders across the business and third parties to identify, evaluate and implement continuous improvement related to Food Safety Management Systems, quality standards and business compliance.
- Develop food safety and  product safety excellence through identifying and sharing best practice.
- Provide guidance, coaching and training to key stakeholders and  ensure compliance requirements are met,  and processes  completed correctly.
- Contribute to the delivery of the business’ risk based technical compliance audit schedule.
- Work with sites to develop technical process documents to translate policy into operational procedures and Safe Systems of Work
- Reviewing our  quality systems and  overseeing  the microbiological  sampling  and testing programme.
- Conducting regular reviews to ensure compliance with our food safety management system and safety standards.
- Regularly review the food safety training and contribute to develop the training programme.
- Use data insight to develop a meaningful action plan to improve engagement in, and understanding & appreciation of the importance of, food safety and quality within the business.
- Working with the Technical Policy and Compliance team to review audit results and trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

About you
- Food science, (or similar) degree – or equivalent industry experience.
- Food hygiene qualified/experience
- Experienced in food manufacture and/or retail audits.
- Advanced Food Hygiene (or to be attained within 12 months of role commencement)
- Advanced HACCP (or to be attained within 12 months of role commencement)
