Location: We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment, with the successful candidate required to travel to our London (Newman Street) or Winchester office 2–3 days a week, depending on business needs.

Role Purpose

As Senior Head of Enterprise Architecture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Arqiva’s technology strategy and innovation roadmap, reporting directly to Director of Enterprise Architecture.

You’ll take a strategic, enterprise-wide view of technology, ensuring all IT architecture decisions align with business objectives and future growth plans. This is a highly influential individual contributor role requiring a leader who can bridge business and technology setting the vision for Arqiva’s next generation of platforms, particularly across Utilities, IoT, and Connectivity domains.

You’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Sales, guiding technology direction and helping Arqiva stay at the forefront of smart infrastructure and connectivity solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Owns, develops and maintains Arqiva’s architecture framework
  • Establishes and leads the enterprise architecture governance structure across broad domains
  • Recognised authority accountable for the definition of enterprise architecture
  • Mentors the leadership and management teams across technology.
  • Leads enterprise-wide initiatives to optimise and transform IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Acts as a key advisor to senior management on technological advancements and innovations.
  • Owns the removal of technological impediments to cross functional teams
  • Develops recommendations for IT solution design and integration based on business needs and architectural principles
  • Guides and supports technical teams and Solution Architects as needed
  • Ensures that IT investments are aligned with the architectural principles.
  • Creates and documents enterprise architecture artifacts (e.g. reference architectures, roadmaps, capability models)
  • Conducts gap analysis to identifies discrepancies between current IT infrastructure and desired future state
  • Aligns IT strategy and planning with the company's business goals.
  • Develops and maintains current and future state architecture blueprints.

Skills

  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture principles and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
  • Strong strategic thinking and stakeholder influence able to shape technology decisions at executive level.
  • Proven ability to bridge business and technical discussions, influencing senior stakeholders across multiple domains.
  • Exceptional understanding of architecture governance, design, and technology transformation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills able to unify cross-functional teams around shared goals.
  • Broad technical understanding across cloud, connectivity, networking, security, and application integration.
  • Familiarity with IoT, Smart Cities, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, and satellite or cellular connectivity.
  • Experience working in Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant experience as an Enterprise Architect or Head/Director of Architecture in large, complex organisations.
  • Strong background within Utilities, IoT, or Smart Infrastructure sectors (essential).
  • Exposure to government-funded and regulated environments (e.g. smart metering, energy, or water).
  • Proven track record in defining and delivering strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Experience collaborating across business, product, and technology teams to align architecture and delivery.
  • Understanding of technology modernisation, platform evolution, and innovation enablement.

Qualifications:


Relevant qualification (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, or related field) and/or equivalent industry experience.
