Duties And Responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled IoT Solutions Engineer (C&I Engineer) preferably with water industry experience, to provide hands-on support and remote support to our global field based and consulting teams. This hybrid role combines field-based installation of instrumentation on electromechanical water treatment equipment with the deployment and integration of IoT and digital solutions - including communications networks, control systems, and edge devices.
Alongside site responsibilities, you will support the consulting team with analysis and reporting on thermodynamic condition-based maintenance, predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, and IoT-enabled performance monitoring, ensuring clients receive reliable, data-driven insights. You will also support the Digital Development team with product and software development.
This role is ideal for an engineer with strong practical site experience and a technical understanding of IoT, electro-mechanical water treatment systems and digital ecosystems who can bridge the gap between fieldwork and advanced analytics as well as support the overall development of the NSI Digital Solutions portfolio.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and calibration of instrumentation on water treatment and electromechanical systems.
- Provide front line support to field-based engineers and support onsite during complex installations and scoping.
- Provide expertise and guidance to the Data Analytics / Consulting Engineers for the production of meaningful customer facing reports in thermodynamic, vibration and other condition based maintenance strategies.
- Deploy and configure IoT and edge devices, including sensor networks, data acquisition systems, and cloud/edge integrations.
- Set up and maintain IT communications and control systems, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity of devices and equipment.
- Apply knowledge of thermodynamic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems to enhance predictive and condition-based maintenance outcomes.
- Assist consulting engineers with data interpretation, IoT-enabled reporting, and final report sign-off for customers.
- Perform field diagnostics, troubleshooting, and IoT-enabled monitoring of electromechanical equipment.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of predictive maintenance strategies using IoT data streams (vibration, thermodynamic, and hydraulic condition monitoring).
- Act as a customer-facing technical representative, ensuring smooth adoption of IoT-enabled solutions on client sites.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Thermodynamic/Hydraulic knowledge or relevant engineering qualification.
- C&I or Electrical qualification (or proven equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of pumping systems, electromechanical equipment, and instrumentation.
- Understanding of IoT, data communications, and integration of edge devices with software systems.
Experience
- Experience in customer-facing and site-based engineering roles.
- Background in production or industrial environments.
- Hands-on deployment of IoT devices, networks, and edge computing systems.
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance strategies in the water treatment industry (thermodynamic, vibration, condition-based monitoring).
Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working with both hardware (field) and software (digital platforms).
- Effective communicator with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to balance independent fieldwork with desk-based analysis and consulting support.
- Organised and detail-focused in installation, integration, and reporting.
Benefits
- Hybrid role offering a balance of field engineering, IoT integration, and technical consulting.
- Professional development in IoT, edge computing, and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Opportunity to contribute to innovative digital transformation in water treatment and industrial services.
