The MSTS MNR (Mercury, North Las Vegas, RSL-N) Maintenance team is seeking a full-time Mercury Maintenance Supervisor I to oversee and supervise daily activities of Mercury maintenance craft employees.  The work location will be Mercury, Nevada on the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), reporting to the Mercury Maintenance Superintendent.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with all MSTS Safety requirements.
  • Directly supervise bargaining and non-bargaining employees, approve time, conduct performance evaluations, and participate in the recruiting, orientation, and training of staff. 
  • Monitor and ensure that preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance are addressed regularly and efficiently.
  • Implement and follow company policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Establish activity level work assignments and maintenance plans.
  • Organize and supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring that schedules are kept.
  • Monitor performance against metrics and goals as established/approved by others.
  • Layout maintenance activities for various building locations and site work.
  • Ensure that required equipment is available as needed. 
  • Track and monitor work packages. 
  • Assist Work Planning with estimates regarding, labor and equipment needs when requested.
  • Perform additional duties related to departmental service level agreements as determined by management.
  • Understand and follow MSTS Project Labor Agreements (PLA).
  • Oversee and manage bargaining and non-bargaining personnel in the operations and maintenance of multiple facilities in the NNSS.
  • Handle daily preventative and corrective maintenance problems as needed.
  • Responsible for working within assigned budget.
  • Interact daily with subordinates and frequent interaction with manager.
  • External interactions are primarily with vendors and/or customers.
  • Attend weekly maintenance and project meetings.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 5 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
  • Training or classes in any of the following standards NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 27, NFPA 72 is a plus. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required and have the ability to write reports and technical publications and presentations. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point desirable. 
  • Should be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision but know when to ask for help. 
  • Be able to deal with pressure of deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. 
  • Strong time-management skills, well-organized, safe work habits and a broad range of technical interests and education.
  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
  • The work schedule is 4/10s, Monday-Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $78,249.60 - $125,195.20.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
