About The Role:

The API Architect Lead is responsible for ensuring MuleSoft and the proposed API platform/tools best practices and architectural concepts for API implementations. This role requires collaboration with architects, business analysts, engineers, and project managers on a wide range of technology projects, including software development, package installation, and infrastructure upgrades and changes. The API Architect Lead will influence requirements, contribute to the identification and specification of solution architectures, and provide expertise across multiple technical areas including processes, software, data, networks, and systems.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure MuleSoft and API platform/tools best practices are implemented and maintained
  • Develop and maintain architectural concepts for API implementations
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, engineers, and project managers on technology projects
  • Lead software development, package installation, and infrastructure upgrade initiatives
  • Influence requirements gathering and contribute to solution architecture identification
  • Specify and recommend solution architectures aligned with business objectives
  • Contribute expertise across multiple technical areas including processes, software, data, networks, and systems
  • Design scalable, secure, and efficient API solutions
  • Establish and maintain API governance standards and guidelines
  • Evaluate and recommend API management platforms and tools
  • Lead technical design reviews and architecture assessments
  • Mentor team members on API best practices and architectural principles
  • Document API architecture patterns, standards, and guidelines

Requirements

Required Professional Skills:

  • Extensive experience with API management platforms
  • Proven experience in government projects with similar size and complexity
  • Deep understanding of MuleSoft platform and capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful and SOAP web services
  • Experience with microservices architecture patterns
  • Understanding of API security protocols and best practices
  • Proficiency in API design and documentation tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Cloud Architect Certifications required
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. 

Preferred Professional Skills:

  • ExKperience with federal government healthcare projects
  • nowledge of CMS systems and requirements
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with API gateway solutions
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Cloud Architect Certifications required
  • Proven experience with API management platforms
  • Experience working on government projects of similar complexity
