Embark on a journey within the Leveraged and Project Finance (LPF) Team under CIB – Global Structured Finance SBU. The team provides strategic advice on debt structuring, leads credit requests through in-depth analysis and negotiations, and partners closely with internal and external stakeholders through to disbursement for existing and prospective clients.
Within, LPF, the Leveraged Finance segment focuses on providing debt financing solutions tailored to the client’s ambitions for diverse and complex transactions in structures such as leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, fund-related financing, portfolio financing, dividend recapitalisations, refinancings, etc.

We are seeking a seasoned professional with deep expertise in structuring and executing complex financing transactions to lead the technical delivery of Leveraged Finance activities within CIB. This role combines people management with technical expertise, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet business requirements.
Reporting to the LPF Team Leader, the Leveraged Finance Senior Lead will serve as the principal technical expert within the leveraged finance segment, providing guidance to stakeholders, reviewing and overseeing the work of their team, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality technical outputs, documentation, and structuring. In parallel, the role contributes to the team’s strategic objectives by fostering talent development, driving innovation, and strengthening client relationships, positioning the Bank as a trusted advisor and market leader in financing solutions across Mauritius and the Africa region.
In this role you will,
- Act as the principal technical expert for leveraged finance transactions and provide strategic guidance on deal structures, financial analysis, and risk mitigation to internal and external stakeholders;
- Lead the development of financial models, risk assessments, and valuation analyses to support transaction decisions;
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financing to ensure the teams are leveraging the latest knowledge and tools;
- Lead the execution of complex financing transactions from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables;
- Prepare and review legal documents and negotiate terms with other lenders / advisors and other stakeholders to ensure timely transaction execution;
- Track transaction timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completion of transaction milestones;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, risk management, syndication, sustainable finance, and coverage, to navigate challenges and facilitate smooth transaction processes;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients alongside the coverage teams, understanding their needs and objectives to provide tailored financial solutions. Also identify opportunities for future financing needs of the client;
- Engage with clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, providing updates and addressing queries promptly;
- Participate in business development efforts, including identifying potential new clients and markets, and promoting the teams’ capabilities externally;
- Provide strategic advice to clients and internal stakeholders on transaction structure optimization, market conditions, and financing strategies to achieve their financing objectives;
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling services within the Bank and develop innovative financing solutions tailored to client needs;
- Oversee the effective allocation of resources across their team, ensuring that team members in their segments are matched to transactions based on their strengths and growth areas;
- Monitor workload and deliverables of team members in their segments, making adjustments as necessary to maintain balance and efficiency within the teams;
- Oversee and review the work of their team and ensures consistent delivery of solid technical analysis, documentation, and structuring;
- Provide mentorship and coaching to Leads, Specialists and Associates, facilitating their professional development and enhancing their technical skills through regular feedback and training sessions;
- Foster a culture of continuous learning. Identify training and development needs to enhance team capabilities and deliver high-quality work;
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedbacks to support team members’ professional growth;
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of team deliverables and initiatives; regularly report on progress to management;
- Collaborate with management to develop team goals, KPIs, and growth strategies aligned with the Bank’s overall objectives;
- Conduct post-transaction reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement, integrating insights into future strategies;
- Assess the risks associated with financing transactions and provide solutions to mitigate these risks while protecting the Bank’s interest;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

We are looking for a candidate who has a minimum of:
- A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; a professional qualification such as CFA or ACA would be an advantage;
- 10 years’ experience in investment banking or deal advisory, with a strong focus on leveraged finance or project finance;
- A proven track record in leading complex financing transactions and managing high-performing teams;
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with demonstrated proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders;
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, showing strategic thinking and effective problem-solving;
- A deep understanding of financial concepts, products, and market dynamics.
