As an Operational Careers Hub Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality careers provision across schools and colleges. Working closely with the Strategic Careers Hub Lead, you’ll help bring together education providers, employers, and local partners to make a real difference to young people’s futures.

Why this role matters
The Operational Careers Hub Lead ensures that the Careers Hub runs smoothly, efficiently, and with measurable impact. By coordinating delivery activity, supporting Enterprise Coordinators, and maintaining strong relationships across education and business networks, you’ll help ensure that every young person has access to meaningful careers education and real-world opportunities.
This role is about turning strategy into action — ensuring great plans are delivered effectively, that stakeholders are engaged, and that the Hub’s work continues to improve outcomes for young people.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead, manage and develop a high performing Hub team to deliver the outcomes in the Careers Hub Strategic Plan and the Grant Funding Agreement.
- Support the Hub team to develop their ability, using the Competency Framework to identify gaps and ensure that relevant support and learning are actioned to address the gaps.
- Ensure that individual schools and colleges action plans are aligned with the Careers Hub Strategic Plan and local economic and skills priorities.
- Work closely with Careers Leaders, Enterprise Advisers and Hub team to ensure a consistent and regular process for collating and reviewing performance data, including Gatsby Benchmarks, using local and national data management systems.
- Collect, monitor and analyse data (including Gatsby Benchmark progress) to track outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
- Support stakeholder engagement by building and maintaining relationships with schools, colleges, employers, and local partners.
- Contribute to financial, contract and risk management processes to ensure compliance with the Grant Funding Agreement.
- Promote collaboration between schools, colleges, and employers through events, workshops and network activities.
- Support recruitment and management of Enterprise Advisers, ensuring they are well-matched, supported and engaged.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance, sharing learning and best practice with other Hubs.
- Represent the Careers Hub at local and regional events, championing best practice in careers education.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience coordinating projects or programmes with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of working collaboratively within education, skills, or related sectors.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and influence partners across education and business.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience of collecting and analysing data to monitor performance.
- Understanding of local and national skills and education priorities.
- Confident communicator, able to present information clearly and build credibility with diverse audiences.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about improving outcomes for young people through education and careers provision.
