Job Description:

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Toledo invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer beginning Fall 2026. This position entails teaching a wide variety of civil engineering and construction engineering technology courses and laboratories, creating innovative instructional materials and laboratory experiences, contributing to program assessment, student recruitment, accreditation activities, and advising students. Candidates must also be prepared to teach courses in 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) using both MicroStation and Autodesk platforms, as well as other presentation and production graphics software. The teaching load is 12-15 credit hours per semester.

A letter expressing interest in the specific position, a curriculum vitae, available start date, and a teaching or academic portfolio that contains narratives describing teaching activities, and sufficient documentation to support the narratives, are required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. The position requires expertise in structural design, soils and foundations, construction materials, surveying, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years of relevant industry experience, a demonstrated record of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level, and a Professional Engineering (PE) license or clear progress toward obtaining one. A minimum of one year of teaching experience is also preferred. Preference will be given to applications that convey a robust teaching background with experience in lectures, recitations, and laboratory sessions.
