A bit about the role
Join City of Casey as a Rates Revenue Officer and play a vital role in ensuring our community’s rates and property records are accurate, up-to-date, and managed with care. You’ll be a friendly, knowledgeable point of contact for ratepayers, helping to navigate queries and processes with professionalism and empathy.
This role offers the chance to work collaboratively across teams, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the financial integrity of the Council. If you enjoy detail-oriented work with a strong focus on customer service and compliance, this is the role for you.
What You’Ll Deliver
- Maintain accurate rates and property records, ensuring compliance with statutory and Council requirements.
- Provide timely, courteous, and accurate responses to ratepayer and stakeholder enquiries.
- Process pensioner rate rebates, refunds, and financial adjustments efficiently and accurately.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Revenue and Rating unit to enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operation of rates administration.
What You’Ll Bring
- Relevant qualification in business, property, accounting, or extensive relevant experience in rates and revenue administration.
- Strong knowledge of Local Government legislation, including the Local Government Act 1989 & 2020, and the Valuation of Land Act.
- Proven experience in customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with ratepayers, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated skills in financial management, including preparing reports, reconciliations, and analysing rates revenue data.
- Proficiency with computerised rates and property systems, and the ability to work efficiently with databases and financial software.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
