Position Summary

Evaluates the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with the Bank. Prepares spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and opinions for Bank Officers on new, renewal and existing loans. Prepares loan underwriting for the more complex borrower deals and conducts industry research and analysis. May lead Credit Administration projects. Generally, has three or more years of experience and may train Junior Credit Analysts.

Essential Functions

• Provides accurate information and sound judgments on the credit worthiness of assigned accounts to aid Commercial Loan Officers of the Bank Lending Department in granting loans.
• Compiles and analyzes data, including industry and market data, for more complex loan relationships and makes recommendations which are meaningful and accurate on selection of prospective customers.
• Generate financial ratios, using computer programs, to evaluate customers' financial status.
• Prepares commercial loan presentations under the direction of the Senior Credit Manager for senior management and board of directors.
• Assists in the coordination with compliance manager regarding examination of lending practices and compliance with banking lending regulations.
• Assists the Senior Credit Manager in the calculation of the bank’s Allowance for Credit Losses.
• Compiles data for, and assists the Senior Credit Manager with, third-party credit quality reviews and examinations. 
• Serves as a resource for loan policy and procedure interpretation for commercial lending officers.
• Onboards, coaches and trains Junior Credit Analysts (Credit Analyst I), as needed.
• Accompanies Commercial Loan Officers on calls when necessary.
• Assists in organizing commercial loan files and maintaining accuracy of all documentation and tracking reports.
• Assists the Senior Credit Manager in assigning grades to all commercial loan customers.
• Monitors covenants for loan relationships, including borrowing bases.
• Assists in the monitoring of loan maturity and past-due reports.

Other Functions

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Adhere and comply with all Bank Policies.
• Familiar with and abides by all bank regulations including but not limited to BSA and OFAC.

Working Conditions of the Job

• Stationed at desk 90% of working time.
• No specific hazards.
• No unusual physical exertion required.

Job Qualifications

•  Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills.
•  Ability to maintain confidential information.
•  Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
•  Prior experience in a lending environment is required; agricultural business knowledge a plus.

Education & Work Experience

•  Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting or equivalent work experience.
•  Minimum of 3 years of relevant credit analyst experience.
