About The Role:

Payments Business/Solution Architect – Working with Application development teams ensure that Customer requirements are met ensuring business objectives are satisfied in a cost effective and timely manner. Work with customers to understand their payments application environment to ensure that project delivery integrates with existing hardware and software to provide seamless end-to-end solution functionality identifying issues, risks and interdependencies during the project delivery lifecycle.

Act as the technical bridge between the project management/customer and the application development teams to ensure business requirements are fully understood and translated into development deliverables.   

About The Team:

As part of the UAE based project delivery team, you will be interfacing with FIS project managers, FIS application developers and customer business and technical staff to ensure delivery of payments projects by providing technical oversight and consultancy across all stakeholders.  

What you will be doing

  • Presenting high level solution overviews to customer business and technical teams and as part of the detailed solution design and development process, work with the application development team to document detailed requirements.
  • Review functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements
  • Review solution development plans to ensure efforts are managed to ensure cost efficient delivery
  • Work with the FIS Sales and Pre-Sales teams to develop costed proposals and solutions that meet customer business requirements.  
  • Document and communicate opportunities to leverage inter-project synergies, application and enterprise software or infrastructure asset re-use and opportunities to expose application assets for enterprise consumption.
  • Document payments initiatives for Key Markets within MEA and identify opportunities for up-selling of FIS solutions.
  • Develop strong technical relationships with key third party suppliers and partners within the region to enhance the FIS delivery model and to increase/support customer satisfaction.
  • Acts as tie breaker on design decisions within the project development lifecycle.
  • Communicates system architecture to technical and business audiences.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education desired.

Requires the following experience or equivalent combination of education and experience as a minimum to enter any level of IT Architect job:

  • Must have led technology direction for multiple projects and led or presented architecture concepts outside realm of immediate workgroup
  • Must have deep expertise in the Payments domain, with proven experience across Cards & Payments, including Switching systems, Card Management Systems (CMS), Debit/Credit card issuance, and Fraud Management. The ideal candidate will have worked on transaction authorization flows, EMV standards, and PCI-DSS compliance, with exposure to local and international payment schemes
  • Experience in the Middle East and Africa region is highly preferred, especially in navigating regional payment infrastructures, regulatory environments, and real-time payment systems. Familiarity with central bank mandates, cross-border payment challenges, and mobile money ecosystems in these markets
  • Demonstrated experience as application development system designer or technical lead on many “very large”, e.g., 10,000 hours or more spanning more than 6 months projects
  • May also require one or more of the following experience requirements:
  • Five or more years working in a distributed and heterogeneous computing environment
  • Five or more years demonstrated experience in working with relational (and/or hierarchical) databases
  • Five or more years demonstrated experience in modern software application technologies
  • Successful design and implementation of applications in a shared service bureau environment
  • Experience in building On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP), batch and reporting systems
  • Experience in using Unified Modeling Language (UML) for Object Modeling
  • Experience in building robust and scalable infrastructure architectures
  • Knowledge of FIS products and services
  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles including waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development
  • Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design based tools and techniques including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • May require a thorough understanding of design patterns and their application
  • May require a thorough understanding of Model-View-Controller design patterns for web applications
  • May require fluency in developing and understanding sequence diagrams, class models, etc.
  • May require in-depth knowledge of networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management, and related infrastructure technologies and practices
