Job Purpose: To coordinate various food items and prepare evening meals in response to the needs of Hollenbeck independent members eating in the Skyline Bistro.
We are currently seeking a part-time Bistro Cook to join the Hollenbeck community.

Responsibilities
- Receive daily assignments and prioritize tasks.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety in food preparation areas.
- Cook and prepare food as instructed.
- Take and prepare customer orders promptly.
- Follow recipes and contribute to menu planning.
- Maintain food freshness and stock rotation.
- Collaborate with team members for efficiency.
- Adapt to other tasks and emergencies as needed.
- Monitor equipment and kitchen temperatures.
- Prepare items for grill and specials.
- Communicate with supervisors for guidance.
- Serve food and maintain cleanliness.
- Complete duties and close dining area.
- Assist with additional tasks as required.
Experience:
- restaurant: 1 year (Preferred)
Requirements
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language as dominant language of Residents in the facility; applicant with bilingual experience welcome.
- Must primarily understand basic culinary terminology; must have knowledge of institution type-feeding and equipment use
- Must be willing to work with and sensitive to needs of frail elderly in a retirement setting including those who are ill, disabled, emotionally upset, or at times hostile individuals in the facility.
- Accepts long-Term Care regulations and Hollenbeck Palms policies and procedures. Employee handbook, Uniform Code, safety precautions, and practices discretion and confidentiality per HIPPAA (Privacy and Confidentiality) Guidelines.
Physical Requirements of Position
- Must be able to stand or walk up to 4 hours per day, for a full-time position, or 8 hours if working extended shift.
- Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, push and pull in normal preparation of foods.
- Must be able to lift, raise, lower and carry hot wells/food containers up to 50 pounds.
- Must orient to and safely handle, per product guidelines, the following machinery: ovens conventional grill, refrigerators, freezer, buffalo chopper, meat slicer, mixers, steam table, lowerator, and dumb waiter.
