Position Overview

Eurasia Group, an independent political risk consultancy, is seeking a motivated researcher to help interpret and predict Washington political events for financial market and corporate clients. You will be based in the firm's Washington office.

More specifically, in this role you will:

  • Take primary responsibility for compiling, editing, and publishing Eurasia Group’s daily newsletter on US politics.
  • Perform in-depth qualitative and quantitative research on policy issues related to trade, immigration, government spending, and foreign affairs, among others, for contributions to both short written deliverables and longer research reports.
  • Support senior analysts in client briefings, including, but not limited to, drafting pre-reads, assembling slide decks, and disseminating meeting summaries.
  • Assist with the US team’s election coverage, which involves evaluating polling data alongside assessments of candidate quality and macroeconomic fundamentals.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working as a journalist, a private sector analyst (e.g., a macro analyst for an asset manager), a think-tank researcher, or in a policymaking role in Congress or at an executive branch agency.
  • You will have a strong curiosity about US politics, an ability to think probabilistically, and a facility for working autonomously on short deadlines. Prior experience managing a publication and with basic statistical analysis is a plus.
  • You have a commitment to develop a network of contacts in Washington, D.C., across the federal government, think tanks, and news outlets.
  • You will have a bachelor's degree or higher in political science, economics, or another relevant discipline and substantial experience working in or writing about US politics.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $50,000 to $55,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

At Eurasia Group, our mission is to provide the tools and understanding needed in a world where politics drives disruption. We put politics first for our clients, and we aspire to be the leading place people come to find out about the world. This requires us to maintain a company culture that puts people first. We are committed to fostering an environment that is empowering and globally minded. We firmly believe that bringing people with a variety of ideas and perspectives to the table makes our analysis stronger for our clients and creates a better workplace. Our leadership team is dedicated to embedding this approach into everything we do and how we lead because we care deeply about our work and our people.
