Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Data Engineer to help ensure the accuracy, performance, and reliability of large-scale data systems within a cloud environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in data engineering, test automation, and cloud technologies, with a focus on maintaining data quality and process integrity.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business users to define and implement quality requirements.
- Develop detailed test plans, data validation rules, and best practices for maintaining high data quality.
- Create and execute manual and automated test cases for ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, and ingestion processes.
- Perform regression testing to identify data inconsistencies and verify system performance after updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data anomalies, variances, and processing errors.
- Conduct root cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions for data defects.
- Develop and maintain automated scripts to improve testing efficiency.
- Validate structured and unstructured data transformations and ensure adherence to governance standards.
- Document defects, testing outcomes, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Participate in post-release testing to confirm production environment stability.
- Provide feedback and input for improving testing frameworks and methodologies.
Required Skills & Experience:
Must-Have:
- 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, data testing, or quality assurance.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with data validation frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Storage).
- Familiarity with Python and automated testing tools such as Great Expectations or dbt tests.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes, data transformations, and data governance.
- Experience with retail data integration or large-scale data environments.
Nice-To-Have:
- Familiarity with client data workflows or business process systems.
- Understanding of data modeling, schema design, and analytics concepts.
- Exposure to data storage, retrieval, and processing technologies.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies and SDLC processes.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint).
- Effective communication, both written and verbal.
- Certification in GCP or software testing preferred.
