Your New Role

We are seeking a seasoned and visionary leader to join our Global Medical Affairs Leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to leave a legacy for people living with blood rare disease (hemoglobinopathy) by enabling and inspiring a highly skilled, passionate team to drive the medical strategy and stakeholder engagement in a rapidly evolving therapeutic area,

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Ensuring the medical affairs team members design and implement a global medical strategy that is rooted in business objectives & priorities, meets patient & clinical needs and adheres to compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Providing strategic insights into the commercial & portfolio strategy, product development, while driving standards for robust strategic input and expertise by the medical directors at a product level
  • Being accountable for the evidence strategy and driving data generation through fostering strong collaboration between the medical affairs, the evidence generation team and health care professionals
  • Ensuring the team drives medical education and brings scientific thought leadership through impactful KOL engagement using a wide variety of medical communication channels.
  • Leading, inspiring and developing a high-performing team, fostering excellence in medical affairs capabilities and maintaining state-of-the-art competencies and know-how.
  • Driving excellence in medical execution of activities and (pre-)launch performance of the medical teams across the global organisation and the affiliates of key markets, embracing new ways of working.
  • Representing Medical Affairs in cross-functional teams, international professional associations and scientific exchange forums, anticipating business challenges and/or opportunities for partnering in a rapidly changing environment.

Your skills & qualifications

We seek a bold, strategic thinker with extensive expertise in medical affairs, a strong business acumen and a global mindset — the ideal candidate thrives in complex environments and is dedicated to advancing healthcare through scientific innovation, effective leadership, collaboration and a result-oriented approach. This role requires a confident communicator, a visionary leader, an effective mentor and a trusted partner within an expansive network.

  • A Medical (MD) or pharmacy degree, or PhD with strong experience in hematology or related therapeutic areas in rare diseases.
  • Over 10 years of medical affairs experience, including global, regional, or multi-country exposure.
  • Proven track record in influential leadership and ability to build and drive high-performing collaborative teams.
  • Proven track record of creating business value through functional impact: strategic planning, prioritisation, scientific engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Fluency in English with the capability to operate effectively in a global matrix environment and across diverse cultural and scientific settings.
