Enterprise Technology (ET) owns the strategy, the enterprise investment, portfolio plans and Operations for the Enterprise Technology platforms and services used by 100k+ Shell users spanning 70 countries, JVs / NoVs and Shell Partners with the Technology footprint spanning across the five main towers under Enterprise Technology i.e. Productivity, Connectivity, Digital Platforms, Identity Access & Security and ERP. 

The ET ERP and Strategic Sourcing IDTM is accountable for driving the strategic direction, implementation and continuous improvement of Shell’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) foundation within the Enterprise Technology function; as well as overseeing and leading IDSOs Strategic Sourcing. This role ensures that ERP application and technical operational support capabilities align with business objectives, deliver operational efficiency and support Shell’s digital transformation agenda. The ET ERP and Strategic Sourcing IDTM will collaborate closely with cross-functional ERP teams including IT, Finance, Supply Chain and external partners.

Shell is currently executing a large multi-year ERP transformation program centered on SAP S/4HANA. This initiative aims to significantly modernize the ERP landscape, reduce process complexity and enhance collaboration across business units. The ET ERP and Strategic Sourcing IDTM will play a pivotal role in this transformation, ensuring integration across platforms, operational readiness and alignment with Shell’s broader digital and operational strategies.

What'S The Role?

Key Accountabilities:

Et Erp Som

  • Own and accountable for the platform strategy, plan and roadmap for Legacy and S/4Hana SAP platform, Application & Platform operations for business SAP solutions like GSAP, Asset Digital core etc. Drive and own readiness for the S/4 journey over the next few years. 
  • ET ERP provides the SAP foundation for Shell to run at its full potential to Power Progress, becoming the world’s leading integrated energy company. To do so we plan and build robust and affordable ERP services, deliver the SAP application and technical operational support to the various business lines in Shell: DSR, Trading, UP, IG, GF and P&T. Managing the ERP contracts and their suppliers to maximize business value.
  • The team’s scope covers ~95% of Shell’s SAP estate spanning a wide range of SAP technologies: SAP core ECC6 & S/4 environments, data & analytics BW systems, SAP BTP technology hosting web-based applications, S/4 extensions and cloud-based integration and middleware solutions. Additionally, the team runs the SAP solutions for high-volume system and application monitoring and operates the SAP tools enabling the SAP S/4 delivery journey.
  • Global leadership across the ERP & Finance natural team, driving a One Team mindset; work as the leader of cross functional natural team to align internal and external IDT partners to ensure all are operating with a collective commercial mindset and drive measurable value.
  • The SAP environments run on private cloud solutions spread between small scale solutions delivered by T-Systems and hyperscalers consuming the Azure@Shell service and SAP’s Enterprise Cloud Service
  • From a business perspective, the team supports the full E2E process in an integrated way; Contract & Procurement, Asset Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Production, Plant Maintenance, Finance & Tax.
  • To deliver secure, reliable and adaptive operations, we are partnering with AOMS suppliers, IBM & Accenture and platform hosting suppliers TSI, SAP and Microsoft.
  • Balance portfolio risk and health with ‘speed to value’.
  • Focus on cost optimisation, operate process harmonization/ standardization and developer experience.
  • Manage risk across the Portfolio and drive compliance to agreed Enterprise IDT standards.
  • What’S Next On Our Journey:

  • Continue to support the S/4 journey to enable a smooth go-live of Group Reporting on 1st of Jan 2026, ADC R2 deployment in April 2026 and to get ready for the GSAP S/4 Nucleus migration in Feb 2027.
  • Identify intelligent operations opportunities in the ERP space and deploy AI enabled features to implement more predictive monitoring and observability systems and to enable touchless operations in critical areas.
  • Strengthen the ERP foundations by enhancing current S/4H on Azure@Shell services to reduce operate cost and make it more secure, enable an enterprise service for new SAP technologies (e.g. DataSphere, SAP ILM) and mature the BTP platform service including AI use cases through GenAI Hub.
  • Continue to support the S/4 journey to enable a smooth go-live of Group Reporting on 1st of Jan 2026, ADC R2 deployment in April 2026 and to get ready for the GSAP S/4 Nucleus migration in Feb 2027.

Idso Strategic Sourcing

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of global IDSO sourcing strategies to drive cost savings, risk mitigation and supplier performance improvements. Including leadership of cross-functional teams to identify and execute strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier partnerships, support the negotiating of long-term agreements to secure strategic and competitive supply of IDT services. Managing top supplier performance through effective governance and relationship management.
  • Accountable to oversee compliance with ethical sourcing requirements and critical procurement legal standards. Developing and enforcing competitive and modern supplier governance frameworks and policies.
  • Monitor market dynamics and drive the adjustment of sourcing strategies accordingly, assessing risk and mitigation strategies for key suppliers.
  • Own and track performance indicators that measure the effectiveness of our overall strategic sourcing programmes and impact.
  • Lead the development of sourcing strategies that leverage Shell’s global scale and align sourcing strategies with business objectives and operational requirements.
  • Oversee the supplier approval process and ensure adherence to governance policies, facilitating supplier audits and compliance checks.
  • Alongside C&P lead negotiations with key suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, manage contract lifecycle, including renewals and amendments.
  • Drive innovation in sourcing practices to deliver sustainable value, identifying and implementing cost optimization initiatives.

Skills And Requirements

  • Proven experience leading large-scale ERP programs or teams, preferably in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Global IT leadership experience with strong business partnering skills.
  • Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA and related ERP technologies.
  • Strong understanding of business processes in finance, supply chain and operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Visible and effective engagement, communication and presentation skills. Is highly experienced in communicating and partnering with stakeholders across organizations, levels
  • Experience with agile delivery methodologies and digital transformation.
  • Good understanding of various sourcing models - both insources and outsourced services. Ability to construct large contracts with suppliers in a dynamic, challenging and ever-evolving environment
  • Ability to lead large cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
