Job Summary:

The Trade Compliance Team Lead will be responsible to ensure the Free trade compliance requirements and Customs Broker compliance requirements are met for the geographies the CBS Export & Imports is responsible for. These cover compliance in Trade Agreements (Like USMCA), MX, US and Canada Imports compliance processes and others.

This lead oversees all import and export compliance procedures relative to supply chains. He or she makes certain that product flow meets global trade compliance regulations and that if documents like certificates of origins are required, proper back up analysis is executed to support it.

The Trade Compliance lead will be responsible for providing analytical, research and organizational support related to customs and trade compliance to further the Company's efforts on new and existing product development and risk management. He or she may also help or support training local employees involved in trade compliance.

The trade compliance lead plays a key role in ensuring that the requirements and business processes associated with cross-border movements function smoothly, while also ensuring that issues and risks are identified and managed efficiently. A trade compliance job demands concentration on global customs regulation frameworks such as harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuations, import VAT rules, and various other matters.

Main Responsabilities:

  • Systematic Rules of Origin Compliance validation for all Trade Agreements in place which trigger duties benefits with focused on USMCA
  • Orchestrate & lead consist review of changes Impacting rules of Origin with Manufacturing & Procurement Teams for both Mexico and NA regions
  • Lead a new Self Assessment  Program for Export and Import Compliance and Coordinate documentation and critical evidence required
  • Assist & Support coordination collecting requirements for External Audits when applicable
  • Support Update practices on Import & Export Policies, Trade Agreements working with External Consulting groups and/or Suppliers
  • Apply continuous improvement to the process (streamline, simplify, Digital/Technological  solutions, Software, etc)
  • Service Governance:  Responsible for engaging internal partners (Manufacturing / Legal / CS&L / Procurement on the activities and processes required for rules of origin validation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Responsible for implementing projects to simplify and automate the Trade Compliance processes looking at best external practices in the market

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor´s degree in International business, Foreign trade Degree. International Trade Specialist 
  • More than 5 years of experience in the International Trade area, with experience in FMCG companies
  • Document control under international and local trade regulations 
  • Relationship with government entities, measurement and control of processes and management with many internal teams.
  • US & Mexican Customs Law and General Rules of Foreign Trade
